Jack Ma is really concerned about those U.S. jobs. Yeah, right.

Africa and South East Asia as America replacing markets?

ROFL.

Yeah. That’s gonna work.

And Europe too? Not a chance, once they tariff and tax your cheap China crap to the same price or higher than the local made stuff.

The trade skirmish will be over soon. The important thing is to find a way for the Chinese government to capitulate without losing face. Trump’s goal is NOT to eliminate our trade deficit with China, just to shrink it substantially and to make China play by the rules from that point forward (esp. WRT intellectual property rights). So if Trump can reduce our deficit with China from approximately $500 billion/year to $350 billion, it would amount to a stimulous of $150 billion/year to our economy. Given an economy of roughly $20.5 trillion, an extra $150 billion would add about 0.73% to our growth rate - which would be (to coin a phrase) YUUUUUGE. It would result in literally millions of jobs and tens of billions in extra (taxable) profits, reduce welfare and foodstamp rolls, and help in future negotiations.

Trump is a master negotiator, so I expect that there will be a deal within 3 months or so. He’ll “give up” something that the Chinese leadership can hang their collective (pun intended) hats on to save face, but it’ll be something that he really doesn’t care about much - the big picture is a substantial reduction in the trade deficit, coupled with intellectual property protections. Frankly, it is way past time for China to live up to international norms in trade - if they really want to be a big and serious player in the long term. If they don’t, then there are a bunch of other countries that will be happy to step into their cheap labor shoes while agreeing to reasonable terms. For example, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Phillipines, Indonesia, etc. That’s not even touching India. China HAS competition, its just that it has been easier to deal with one government that can handle most of the world’s cheap labor needs, rather than 10 or 20 nations. China has pushed this advantage to the hilt, but they’ve begun to overplay their hands...and now comes Trump, who knows just how to pressure them to start playing less unfairly.

Thanks, but who wants to work for a Communist Chinese entity? There will be more than a million jobs within the U.S. created by companies founded, and owned by American citizens.

awesome to see a kommie troll billionaire so “concerned” about Trump ... nonetheless, it’s gratifying that the kommie says “China should focus exports on the “Silk Road” trade route, citing Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe” ... BECAUSE the U.S. would then be massively incentivized to start making all of the stuff here in the U.S. that’s not gonna be imported from China ...
