Prison justice is a loathsome thing. Sometimes it's better than official justice.

We have a moral obligation to keep even the most loathsome prisoners safe behind bars, and it bothers me when our prison guards fail. Our courts also have a moral obligation to dispense justice to those loathsome prisoners, and it bothers me when our courts fail. Sometimes, I'm almost okay with one failure balancing out another failure.

This child killer should have been executed by the state.<<

I usually read through the posts of others before I submit my own. That’s somewhat frustrating because, as here, you have already expressed precisely my own thinking in regard to this incident. As I’ve stated time and again on this forum, in a truly civilized society those who commit such crimes would be tried, convicted, and publicly hanged within days of their apprehension.
