What he really means is that the LIBERAL wing of the republican party is shrinking, and has lots its influence. They have been working so hard to thwart conservatism since Reagan left office. But it's in the ascendant now, and they can't take it.

Are there fewer registered Republicans or independents identifying as Republican-leaning? Maybe. I formally switched from GOP to independent in 2016 after the GOP ”leadership” refused to embrace the candidate elected in the primaries to be their nominee. It was clear the GOP leadership wasn’t willing to learn or change or adapt or listen to its rank and file members. It was obvious that Ryan, McConnell, McCain and other GOP hacks would have preferred Hillary win. Why would I want to belong to a party like that?
That doesn’t mean I’ll vote democrat. To be honest, neither party represents my views. I’ll vote for Trump again, but after that who knows?
