I was stalked by a Black Bear with cubs, she kept trying to outflank me. I am waiting for a Bear mauling or Death for the State to wake up and declare a hunting season on them. Even next door in Massachuchetts they have Bear hunting , only $5.00 for a licence 100.00 for out of Staters.

I’ve read where one is supposed to play dead with Grizzlies - the idea being they are just trying to eliminate the threat. Black bears are less apt to attack, but if they do it is to kill you - so those you fight back.

Although I imagine one’s instinct is to fight regardless of the color.
