The major contention seems to be whether he was justified in going back to defend his friends after he accessed his pistol from the car.
He moved back toward them a bit, when he was met by the drunk fraternity brothers coming at him.
He told them to stop, but they did not.
His friends, at trial, said they were on the ground but did not fear for their lives.
It seems strange to me, that the fraternity brother who set off the whole mess, by sucker punching Steve Jones (he admitted to doing it, then running off) was never charged with anything.
One of the prosecution witnesses, who testified against Jones, committed suicide a couple of months ago.
All concerned seem mostly Caucasian. Jones, by appearance, may have some Amerind in him. I do not know.
I do not claim to have seen all involved or be able to tell peoples ancestry by a picture.
