A Mossberg 500 12 gauge, a Ruger 10/22 and a Springfield 1903 reside in one of my gun cabinets.
I think these are close enough to the weapons listed to do the job(s).

Did the writer not notice that one of the rifles on his list is not a rifle?

Ditto. I don’t have a use for the last rifle because big game hunting in Africa doesn’t interest me.

I used to know a doctor who was an avid big game hunter. He had one gun he believed the best of all. It was a Weatherby .300 magnum.

One for those who like the semi-auto and a slightly faster varmint round, try the Savage A22 in 22 WMR. Rotary mags hold 10, within zero to 3” fall out to 180 yards.

MY 17 WSM shoots circles around it but I’m still keeping my 22 Mag’s.

So tell me: A 10-22 can take a 22lr bullet? That plus what else? You guys are the experts.

Ruger used to sell the 10-22 in 22 wmr (winchester magnum etc.) but discontinued it.

In the write-up on the Ruger 10/22, it mentions the advantages of .22 caliber shotgun shells. Those would make me feel like Gulliver.

Good choice, but for a cartridge that's available world-wide I would choose the .375 H&H magnum. One could use it on deer to elephants and everything in between.

Barrel markings are Your Best Friend!
Typically RUGER 10-22 are 22lr. Only.

From .22 LR all the way up to .458 SOCOM, the AR15 platform is the best all around rifle for any North American game animal.

Savage Model 110 in .308. Best out of the box rifle on the market IMO.
The trigger is outstanding.

I kinda figured the .223 was best only because it’s more available. Russian version cost 21 cents a pop. Whatever happened to it. What’s the cheapest ammo online.
