A mass of recent stories about white folk fearing the browning of the United States is doing rounds not only on social media, but in what passes for regular news networks. The accusations state that people voted for Trump because they are racist, because they dont want more people with darker skin coming to the US. Not only is this idea wrong, it is politically motivated.
If you really want to know what Americans (and people in Europe) are afraid of, its not the browning of the nation, it is the flawed and often dangerous ideology that comes with some elements of mass-migration.
Take the UK for example. British newspapers are filled with stories of Islamophobia and racism against migrants (even second and third generation). You would think that Britain is one of the least welcoming places if you have dark skin. But the reality is something quite different.

A whole lot is based on victim ideology.
Make enough people into “victims” and you get enough of the emotional vote from the majority to swing you into power.
The Sheriff scene in Blazing Saddles is satire on that:
The black sheriff pulls a gun and points it to his own head: Don’t anyone move or the n*gger gets it!
A white woman exclaims: Somebody help that poor man!
The sheriff get back to his office: they sure are stupid!

The fact that I eagerly look for, and embrace, people of color who express traditional American values and behavior, I seldom see it, and can’t say I am optimistic about seeing more of it in the future.
So, no, I don’t pretend.
