Joe was my local weatherman out of State College PA for many years. He is a character. Great guy.
His long sideburns lasted several decades beyond the fad.

Joe was a varsity wrestler at Penn State, graduating in 1978. Hard to believe his body is in excellent shape at 62.

Exactly. How can one say this is unusual weather. I’ve been coming to FL for 20 years and there’s at least one or two good cold snaps almost every year. And early January is the prime period to expect one.
We had one in early March about 4 years ago.
