Another career that is desperately short of new members is HORSESHOER/FARRIER.

You are self employed...

Many horse owners pay cash ( I do)......

You do your own scheduling.....& you can drop a client that is not paying timely or has horses which are not property trained to deal with the shoer. Mine get their feet & legs handled & picked up from a day old, and we tap the bottom of their feet gently with a small shoer hammer so nothing is a surprise when they get their first set of shoes.

Farrier schools are not long, nor are they expensive.

There are more horses in the USA today than before the machine revolution......

Got a kid who doesn’t fit the college model & likes to be outdoors? See if this works for him-—OR HER.

I can relate to this one. I had about 50 yrs. experience in the mechanical field;most was on cars & trucks, but l did very little diesel. As it was stated....there ain’t no money in it & working conditions vary as to how much they may suck. Back in “the day” it may have been pretty good(I’m told it was),but times changed & not for the better. Nowadays,in most but not all cases,it’s probably not worth even considering.

Those don’t sound too much like entry level, but more like lower mid-level.

I don’t doubt that in NYC the janitors do twice as much work as teachers; they should get twice as much.

Thanks for posting these. Data scientist, product manager are not entry level roles.

DevOps Eng, Sales eng, developer can be entry level, but not many starting at $90k!

Back in the late 90’s my brother was the chief flight mechanic for the Montana based Washington Corporation that had a number of Gulf Stream jets. They only paid him about 35K per year......The only upside was that he got to co-pilot on the jets that needed to fly to other locations for major maintenance which allowed him to accumulate hours towards a pilot’s license.
