I agree with you.
I try to resist but the juvenile, immature part of me forces me to ask, what’s a “but for”?
*ignore me*
It is to say that one thing caused another.
Two ships collide. The investigators determine that one captain came left into the path of the other. But for that accident, the collision would not have occurred. Therefore, the captain’s mistake in coming left caused the accident.
Okay, you got me. I completely failed to see the joke.
Sessions’ DOJ is prosecuting this travesty, right?
Do they have a new US Attorney for this district? Is this how we drain the swamp?
Come on, Jeff, what do you do all day?
“Okay, you got me. I completely failed to see the joke.”
Understandable, sometimes I forget not everyone’s mind is as twisted as mine. :)
Still, thank you for the explanation. Had never heard that used as a legal term.
Sessions is compromised, at least that is my take. So is about 90% of congress.
From reading your link, they aren't being allowed to mount a defense at all.
I am CERTAIN there is absolutely NOTHING a judge doesn't think he or she can do from the bench.
Not according to every judge I've encountered while in a jury pool.
To a man or woman, they have said in so many words that none of 'this jury nullification nonsense' would be tolerated in their fair court.
Quick way to get yourself disqualified. Ask this question.
Trouble maker!
"During a speech last week in Nevada, Sessions complimented Nevada acting U.S. Attorney Steven Myhre for his work on the case."
I’ve never needed to ask, the judges are more than willing to go on a preemptive strike.
I appreciate the informative link. Now the story is coherent. This thread excerpt was not. It was awful.
There will be a mis-trial. Little girl judge is out of her league, entirely. I expect the jury (unless they are in the same or worse shape than the goofy judge) will not appreciate this judge.
If there is no mis-trial called and the jury is railroaded, there will be a legal appeal.
Sessions praised the prosecutor in this case last month as I laid out in another blog post.

For the record, the Obama US Attorney in Vegas left when asked to do so by the Trump Administraton, but the lead prosecutor in the Bunkerville case, the guy who wants the Constitution banned from the courtroom as a defense, Steven Myhre, is now the acting US Attorney for Las Vegas.
There is no Trump Administration US Attorney appointed in Las Vegas yet.
And don’t forget, McConnell and the entire Republican Senate stayed in session so that Trump couldn’t recess appoint anyone while they were gone. Imagine if he could put all his US attorneys in place, and the slow-walking wouldn’t matter any more. Sad.
The swamp is winning so far.
