Ukraine has not been challenging the USA and trying to restore the USSR/Russian empire. Ukraine did not take a hunk of Russian territory with little green men. Ukraine is not waging an ongoing undeclared war on Russia with surrogates. Ukraine is not supporting North Korea, Iran, Syria, and Hezzbolah. putin is.

Oh, it’s fake news, then? It’s Ukraine that’s working against the USA?

There’s a lot about Ukraine that people don’t realize right now.

In Ukraine there are two roughly equal factions currently fighting it out (both electorally, and physically in the Donbass region).

There is the pro-EU group based around Lviv & Kiev, and the eastern, pro-Russian group based in Donatsk & Luhansk.

The pro-Russian group won the most recent presidential election, but the results were overturned in what amounted to a de facto Merkel & Obama backed coup. This sent shockwaves through the country, culminating in the Ukrainian Civil War.

Obviously the pro-EU side was very, very anti-Trump because of his rejection of Obama’s policies & the EU.

My point is that it’s complicated: Ukraine being ripped in half by its two benefactors, and there are groups on both sides. Ukraine’s pro-EU groups are definitely in cahoots with Merkel & the deep state (that’s who put them in power).

Here’s an article that basically explains the situation.

Thanks, most of what I’ve read and know about Ukraine came from classified sources. Your reference to the deep state and Merkel make me think you see moral equivalence between putin and the Russian aggressors using violence in Ukraine and those who want a civil, democratic, and pro-western government. I realize some folks like the shirtless authoritarian and president-for-life putin. They’re indifferent to his empire building and for partisan reasons they became blame America firsters during the Obama terms. I don’t share that viewpoint. Without the ordnance, weapons, intelligence, Russian fighters, and logistics putin supplies to the separatists the Ukrainians would have peace. Instead, putin wages war on a nation he is legally at peace with and his apologist blame Merkel and Obama. That’s what an apologist for aggression does.

See there’s your problem right there: Ukraine is to Russia what Canada is to America, their backyard. Always has been, always will be.

Were Russia to orchestrate a coup in Canada & install a pro-Russian aristocracy in power, I think you’d change your tone.

You’re condemning Russia for “empire building”, and yet that’s precisely what you’re advocating for yourself: installing pro-western puppet governments in Ukraine (not to mention overthrowing a democratic election in the name of “democracy” which is itself bizarre).

We should mind our business, and they should mind theirs.

See there’s your problem right there: Ukraine is to Ukraine what the USA is to the USA. YOU want to see things the way that ultra-Russian nationalist see things. That is, you want to kowtow to putin and rationalize his crimes against the nations that border his personally owned country. Russia has a long history of cruelties to Ukraine during the Romanovs and during the communists and now during the putinistas. You can ignore that and blame America first for the crimes putin commits because you’re a putinista apologist.

“You’re condemning Russia for “empire building”, and yet that’s precisely what you’re advocating for yourself”

Still that would be a bit more logical than crowds of supposed “American patriots” here and there rooting for Russian empire building.
