So you have no earthly idea what differentiates being a kiss-up from calling people Nazis.
Calling a person a Nazi is a ‘discussion’?
UAL absolutely screwed the pooch on this. That’s why it’s such a big story. The seat was bought and paid for. He was sitting there with his wife. If it were me and I needed to be somewhere I would have sat there and negotiated all day long for fabulous cash and prizes to get off that plane. If they didn’t want to pony up i wouldn’t leave until they made me.

The best reply on this whole United Airlines incident was yesterday.......refund the guy’s ticket and send him with a lollipop.
I agree. He’s a drama queen.
Here’s a clue. Being calling people Nazis has nothing in common with kissing up. When you equate the two, it displays murky, dysfunctional thinking.
Or perhaps you’re intentionally attempting to deflect. If so, it was ineffeftive.
Being calling = Calling
Of course he’s now compared the United Airlines incident with his experience with the VietKong. United Airlines was worse.
Drama queen.
I got bumped from a flight. Then I sued - Thatcher A. Stone - April 12, 2017
The airline had failed to pay us the right amount of money and had not given us written instructions. We lost our hotel deposit and we didn't get our luggage back for four days. We won the case -- and $3,100 from Continental Airlines -- and I was on every major TV network. Then, as now, people were just fed up with the airlines, but if you misbehave, the airlines are fed up with you. ...
If United had taken a senior gate agent and brought him onto the airplane and said to the doctor, "here is our written policy about denied boarding. I know you are in a seat, but you are mistaken that we can't remove you. But guess what? You will get refunded whatever you paid if we can get you to your destination within an hour and if it takes longer you could get up to 400 percent." He would likely have gotten up and gotten off the plane in a second.
Cited for the proposition that "boarding" isn't some magical talisman in favor of the passenger, from a fellow who makes a living litigating airline abuse of passengers.

Here’s a better clue. I didn’t equate the two. I differentiated. I don’t kiss up Nazi types. Kiss ups are scared of their threats and warnings. I’m not.
Hope this helps now.
“Yes, I have been saying this from early on. It appears that he saw an opportunity and took it.”
Same here. He was one quick thinker, his background as a scammer served him well. He finally hit the jackpot. Will a jury see through him? He deserves to be awarded something but not millions.
I wonder how many other scammers are taking notes.
Fail.
You said you were being called out for not “kissing up.”
That never happened.
You were called out for name-calling/making it personal by accusing another poster [me] of being a Nazi.
See the difference?
He and his lawyer are making sure the claim for damages has everything in it. Fear, humiliation, physical injury, pain and suffering, emotional distress. It’s part and parcel of the “lottery mentality” that the press has ginned up among the public. The big awards are reported on the front page, the reversals on appeal are reported in a paragraph at the bottom of page B21.

Warnings, threats, appeals to the owner, checking on how long I have been here, condescending tone, newbie....the list goes on and on. IT’s what happens when people get desperate and lose a debate. Nazi like behavior. Threats, “keeping an eye on you”......LOL. Ok.

Yup.....the lottery mentality coupled with what I call the “OJ-Jurization” of America and this guy is gonna be rich. Thanks. Agree.
Sounds like you have an enormous grievance, for a person who’s only been here a few days. If you’ve rubbed that many people wrong already, maybe it’s you, not them.
I think that point is actually a very hard one to argue to the extent that I highly doubt it will be relevant to how this unfolds. There are many reasons why an airline might what to have a number of seats in reserve if you will and if they lose those, the plane is technically overbooked even possibly if it takes off and there is a seat empty. In my view, the far more important issue is that they allowed everyone to board before announcing that they needed volunteers. I believe that there is a far less wiggle room with the definition of boarding than there is to the word overbooking .
And if they felt that it was THAT important for them to be aboard that particular plane, they should have made compensatory offers until they got four actual "volunteers" to deplane.
Yes, I agree but they should have done that before boarding commenced.
And, without being placed under arrest, I don't think that the passenger could be charged with resisting and so their use of force to remove him would not have been legally valid.
I think that there is some validity to this point
the fellow committed no criminal act and so by the police pulling him out, they are basically doing the bidding of one particular group against a citizen who did nothing wrong. We can see how this plays out but I suspect the police will find that they are in some trouble as well.
Curious, how do you like it?
