The biggest fake news story in all human history is that humanity can transcend mortality without a savior. But that is the offer that socialism aspires to. That is the end goal of the “revolution” that socialists strive to trigger and to impose on humanity. This is summarized in Marx, in a concept call “New Man” (see google!) or “New Soviet Man”

But most people cannot absorb that goal of socialism. It is a claim that is incredible. But scholars like Eric Voegelin have written much about it. Both he and others have clearly laid out a lineage of philosophy that stretches from Marx to Hegel, and to ancient gnosticism itself, which I have traced back to the Babylon Mystery religion.

(And that is why post-modernists are at war with the vestiges of Christian culture today.)

But if that is too much, please accept my claim that be most monstrous secular “fake news” today is that society will be better off in every way that matters when we each live at the expense of others, and when we each give up our own ideas and adopt the ideas of the left hive-mind.

In the previous century the fake news of socialism cost over 100 million lives. Liberty and the free market never cost any lives. Indeed the free market is the only way that humanity has grown from living a miserable, brutal and short life as a serf to the tremendous prosperity we each enjoy today.

Freedom of "the press” cannot be taken as implying that “the press” is legitimately a unitary entity. Throughout American history, there have always been independent newspapers, each free to print (within wide limits of libel) without government restraint, or even critique, as being “fake news.” There has always been communication among newspaper printers; special postage rates apply to the mailing of newspapers because the public wanted newspaper printers to be able to disseminate information among themselves for propagation to the public. But “the Associated Press” took that to a different level. Founded in the 1840s (Moorse demonstrated the Baltimore-Washington telegraph line in 1844), the AP has constituted a continuous virtual meeting of all major news organizations ever since. And the result has been just what Adam Smith would have predicted:

Journalists have been conspiring against the public since the memory of living man runneth not to the contrary. This should be rectified in two ways:

• Wire services should be sued, and limited in their ability to homogenize journalism.

• The public must be educated to the skepticism:
