I believe it is in response to ancient laws that punished down through the generations of one's posterity.

That tracks with me. Even goes back to Biblical times. Thank you for your help. I am actually struggling through internet searches to understand more this afternoon. If I end up on a dead end, I have 2 things left I'm searching, I may hit you up for more help

No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.
. . . but it’s OK that Hillary was a principal of the Clinton Foundation, and it accepted big bucks from Saudi Arabia - and other states - while she was Secretary of State. Without so much as a “by your leave” to the House of Representatives. Not even once, not even when both houses of the Congress and WH were Democrat controlled.

Thank you. I have a copy of the original so proofing isn't necessary.

I appreciate your effort. I am always on the lookout for easier ways to explain our founding documents. The Progressive political movement attempts to discredit America's founding documents by discrediting American founders.

Spreading the truth about America's founding documents is the best way to preserve them.

Speaking of proofing, I recall the objection John Adams had with Jefferson’s choice of the word inalienable.
Adams asked Jefferson to amend it to unalienable.
When Jefferson refused, Adams said he would take it up with the printer and we see how it turned out.
