A box of popcorn and free use of the words 'ugg' and 'kemosabe'?
A glutton for punishment? Just Empty Every Pocket... ;-)
I wish I'd never sold my Cherokee (1998 XJ).
My great grandfather was full blood Indian. We don’t know what kind. No one has ever used it in any way.
My granddaughter is looking for a job and was telling me that every application is asking if they speak Spanish first and then ethnicity. I told her yesterday to put a kink in it and mark Native American. lol
I think of this Lone Ranger and Tonto joke from many moons ago...
The Lone Ranger and Tonto find themselves after a long exhausting horse ride staring up at canyon walls filled with hostile Apache warriors. The Lone Ranger sensing the impending doom, turns to Tonto, his faithful Indian scout, and says "What do WE do now Tonto?"
Tonto slowly turns towards to the Lone Ranger, thinks of his Indian brothers and says "What do you mean WE, kemosabe?"
Old but good. That punchline has had a lot of good use in many situations.
Not Cherokee. Hekawi.
“Many moons ago, tribe leave Massachusetts because Pilgrims ruin neighborhood! Tribe travel west, over stream, over river, over mountain, over mountain, over river, over stream! Then come big day... tribe fall over cliff. That when Hekawi get name. Medicine man say to my ancestor, ‘I think we lost. Where the heck are we?’.”
Old joke, something like this: A white man and his Indian bud have a few beers in a tavern. The Indian decides to go home and leaves. A minute later there a squeal of brakes.
The white guy runs outside and sees his buddy kneeling on the pavement, ear to the ground. He says "1988 four door Pontiac, blue stripes down the side, one headlight broken."
White guy marvels "Holy Cow! I knew you guys were good trackers, but this is fantastic!"
The Indian says "You idiot! That's the car that hit me!"
Lol....good one.
Elizabeth, as a Cheyenne friend of mine once said to a person claiming Indian ancestry, “The only Indian in you is what someone stuck in you.”
“I thought the Tribes had final say on who is or is not an Indian and that they require documentaty proof before they accept a claim for membership.”
That is the way that it is in my county in California. The Indian tribes here are very picky about who they recognize as tribal members. There is a lot of money at stake. Fauxahontas would never be accepted as anything but a phony.
I’m 1/16th Indian — a tribe in Western NY State — Seneca, if family lore is correct.
I’d never insult them by trying to trying to take advantage of it politically or any other way. Anyone (Warren) who’d do that is despicable — especially if it’s a complete lie.
"Nice party, where's the whiskey!"
That covers literally millions of Americas alive today. The Cherokee could see that their only chances for survival as a people included intermarriage with the dominant tribe (whites) and sought these alliances for practical as well as political reasons at the time. The Cherokee wore white man's clothes and learned the white man's law during this time up until the 1836 Trail of Tears expulsion.
The fact that Warren could not clear even this fairly low hurdle makes her fake claim all the more repugnant.
I believe that "off chance" just became more remote. This is a devastating piece. Of course we knew all this when she ran against Scott Brown for senator. But Brown decided in typical RINO fashion to take the high road and he never made an issue of Warren pretending to be a minority in order to further her career and take advantage of affirmative action for herself.
Scott Brown, a/k/a Charlie Brown, went on to get his clock cleaned in the election. So much for taking the Kennedy seat for the Republicans. Nice guys finish last again.
You can bet that Donald Trump will not leave this on the table should he get the opportunity to run against this phoney insufferable hypocrite.
