"This decision is one of the most significant in our nations history," said the kids' attorney, Philip Gregory. Yes it is. It illustrates just how friggin insane this nation has gone.

So, if that’s the case, then shouldn’t kids be able to sue the government over inaction on the spiraling federal debt?

All we can say in response to that boss statement is that, if the adults arent going to do anything about climate change, were glad these incredible kids are stepping up. The power is yours! The cartoons my generation watched on Saturday morning didn't turn us in to vapid, blithering idiots, for some reason.
I still root for the Coyote though. Friggin' RoadRunner.

Plaintiffs further allege that defendants' acts and omissions violate the implicit right, via the Ninth Amendment, to a stable climate and an ocean and atmosphere free from dangerous levels of CO2. Finally, plaintiffs allege that defendants have violated the public trust doctrine, secured by the Ninth Amendment, by denying future generations essential natural resources. Justice Antonin Scalia has expressed the view, in the dissenting opinion of Troxel v. Granville 530 U.S. 57 (2000), that:
The Declaration of Independence...is not a legal prescription conferring powers upon the courts; and the Constitutions refusal to 'deny or disparage' other rights is far removed from affirming any one of them, and even farther removed from authorizing judges to identify what they might be, and to enforce the judges list against laws duly enacted by the people.

kids have standing ? in a case where the science is iffy ? and they can’t prove they have been harmed.
but voters\lawyers\senators\presidential candidates have no standing when questioning presidential eligibility, which can be proved as harmful\unconstitutional ?
did I just make a bad straw man ?

Now watch the Obama administration roll over and enter into a “consent decree” that judicially forces the government to do all sorts of things that would never be agreed to by Congress or anybody else.
