No, it refers to diabetes type 2.

Associated with being fat at a young age.

Just like adults.

Insulin resistance due to obesity.

Type I diabetes is still a mystery.

Nobody knows why kids get it.

Sometimes in completely normal bodied children.

Beat me to it!

Type I diabetes in children is not generally related to obesity.

Type II is.

Ferris is a DIY guy who has Jimmy-rigged his bedroom [...]

Is this a now-acceptable variant of jerry-rigged - itself a WWII variant of the centuries-old jury-rigged?

Regards,

Everything in Ferris’s neighborhood was filmed a block away from where we lived for 15 years (Bixby Knolls area, Long Beach, CA). And the best friend’s house and cool glass garage in Chicago belonged to a family I know by the name of Rose. Weird connections to that film.

The VHS format is not dead; it lives on, where mold has not found it.

Ironically, Ferris’ generation are the parents of the snowflakes.

Why go out when you can binge watch Breaking Bad all day long?

He says that like it's a bad thing.

Mia Sara has a come-hither look when her face is just neutral.

I used to go to the Oakland Raiders games and that song always reminds me of that. Hello bells was their intro song.

What’s a guy in Chicago doing wearing a Red Wings’ sweater?

Time certainly haven’t been kind to Matthew Broderick. Now he looks like a creepy old man.

She certainly is a very attractive female, no two ways about it.

In the picture on the left, she reminds me of Sue Lyons (Kubrick’s Lolita) just a little bit. Perhaps her expression.

wiki-

“The phrase “jury rigged” has been in use since at least 1788. The adjectival use of “jury”, in the sense of makeshift or temporary, has been said to date from at least 1616 when it appeared in Capt John Smith’s The General History of Virginia, New-England, and the Summer Isles published in 1624.

There are several theories about the origin of this usage of “jury”:

From the Latin adjutare (”to aid”) via Old French ajurie (”help or relief”).

A corruption of joury mast—i.e. a mast for the day, a temporary mast, being a spare used when the mast has been carried away. (From French jour, “a day”.)

Yes, but that’s not the picture I’m thinking of. There’s another one, where she’s wearing the bikini and the hat. She has almost exactly the same expression on her face as Mia Sara has. Unfortunately, I can’t find a linkable version of that image.

Sue Lyons is - of course - of a different time period. She was born 21 years before Mia Sera.
