Jeb B. Robot Rubio, Kasich the mailman’s son have all been declared conservatives. I sure do not want any of these types of conservatives in the White House. I would much rather have a pragmatist or somebody in the middle who protects our borders, stops influx of dangerous Muslims, and knows how to create jobs.

If truth be told-Ted Cruz IS who everyone wants Donald Trump to be.

Trump is supposed to be the stand up, take no prisoners, tough guy- But in reality he's a deal maker who likes Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi, but who calls Ted Cruz a nasty person.

If Trump is admitting he's not conservative-We should be asking: What kind of "deals", to get exactly what kind of "things" done, will Trump be making with the Democrats?

That's not a question we have to ask about Ted Cruz.

We know he stands firmly on the conservative-small government side of issues.

I am completely confused about the Trump phenomenon. On one hand I suspect he is the Chauncy Gardener of politics and that people read into him what they wish him to be. He says, “I’ll make America great again,” but gives us no clues on how he is to do this or any of the other grandiose ideas he espouses.

On the other hand, the only two legitimate contenders to his bid, IMHO, Cruz and Rubio, have problems of their own. Cruz has a serious electability problem, otherwise, he would be the best candidate we’ve had in a long time. Rubio has high electability in the general election, but some of his immigration comments are worrisome.

Also, considering that our country, and the entire Western World, is and has been in a state of suspended suicide, it may take a whack upside the head administered by a whackmaster like Trump to win should we have any chance of survival.

All I know for certain is that we’d better get this right, because this is the last chance we’ll ever get. Whatever our choice is, we should just pray about it and give our vote a lot of thought before we commit. One thing that would help, I believe, is that if those incapable of winning, especially Jeb, get out of the way so we can see the top three and compare them against each other.

This is good.

“His love for the United States is obvious, deep-seated, and true. I believe that he will create jobs and employment opportunities like we’ve never seen before. He can schmooze and finesse when needed, and knock heads when heads need knocking (to be adroit at both talents is somewhat rare in my experience). His courage is undeniable, his work ethic impeccable, and his moral compass strong and steadfast. Honestly, I don’t much care where Trump falls on the “Conservo-meter”—just keep kicking political correctness to the curb and speaking truth.”

Trump is most certainly *NOT* a "conservative icon".

But I don't think conservatives (or the political right) are demanding a "conservative icon". I just think they want someone who has a reasonably conservative record.

Trump as president can only last 8 years; however, his SCOTUS appointments can linger for multiple decades. Given his leftist "NYC Values" history, it's how he was raised; it's all he's known and he reveals those values as his first instinct when put on the spot (ie his proclamation that Govt would pay for his universal healthcare). As for SCOTUS justices, all I've heard him say is some generic clap-trap that he would get "really good people"... Does he think Kagen, Sotomayor, Ginsberg and Souter are "really good people"? I think it's reasonable to expect someone with "NYC Values" would think so.

Meanwhile, he's got an army of pissed-off people who will walk over coals to vote for him as long as he pokes the GOP in the eye, builds a border wall and beyond that, don't seem to care if he's left of center on everything else.

I'm voting Cruz in the primary and if he doesn't win the nomination, then I will hold my nose and vote for whatever RINO/Leftist the GOP nominates to oppose "Bernie Clinton", even if that's trump.

It’s from a Canadian paper Trump will probably sue them for daring to question him. Or he’ll just hurl tweets at them. Michelle Obummer made the world a much better place through twitter and Trump can too.

LOL. He lost me there...well, sooner than that.

Specifically please, which conservative principles is it okay to abandon or rewrite in a trade-off to get the "mighty" Trump elected?

Given the track record of self identified conservatives over the last quarter century, I’d say Trump’s status is a feature, not a defect.

I believe that most republican voters have decided that Trump is conservative enough and Christian enough. He represents the best chance to win and be a change agent in DC.
