AND, the unions provide the ‘foot soldiers’ Dems use to make the get out the vote calls, and to man the polling places, to check off who’s voted (or not). Been doing it longer than the very long time I’ve been alive.
The local unions, or ‘international’ unions still tend to be members of much larger organizations, i.e., the Teamsters or AFL-CIO. The word comes down from the top. No one dare deny that leadership, even if they secretly vote the other way. Teamsters have been known to support the occasional R. Very occasional.
