Similar to the “abolish the monarchy” crackpots of the 18th century. What wackos!
To: NaturalBornConservative
First there’s Senator Ted Cruz, who might have a better shot if he used his real name,
So does this writer have the same animosity towards James Earl Carter, who always went by “Jimmy”, even when signing legislation or other legal documents????

How did those crackpot Founding Fathers get along without the IRS?!
What wacko birds they were!

Maybe someone would like to explain why we must have the IRS and how the nation survived till 1916 without it.

Other countries seem to be able to collect taxes without a Fascist IRS.
What, you got relatives employed in the belly of the beast?

You might not be able to totally eliminate the Infernal Revenue Service, but you can certainly cut it down to a fraction of its current size and power.

If they don’t exist they won’t make a very good weapon to wield against political enemies.

You, Mr Dunham are no conservative. Therefore you have no business commenting on anything remotely relating to the original founding of America. No words from you or “wisdom” about limited government, or self rule are possible. You see, you worship at the altar of total government, only wishing to polish the “knobs” of your jailers.

The question about why we need the IRS in the first place scares them to death because it inevitably leads to questions about the 16th amendment.
That inevitably leads to question about its partner in crime, the 17th amendment.

His Simple Flat Tax Postcard lumps all income onto one line, rendering it virtually impossible to verify. Apparently wages, interest, dividends, capital gains, rents, pensions, social security benefits, etc. are all one in his mind.
So now we get to see a glimpse inside this author's mind. He is so indoctrinated into the current, oppressive, Big-Brotherish system that he can't even fathom a world where the government doesn't track every move you make and catalog it. Why should we treat those categories of income differently? Income is income.
However, I would like to abolish the taxation of income simply because it necessarily leads to tracking of people's lives by the government. How do you verify that someone is telling the truth about their reported income? You have to have the employers report it, the banks report it, the stock brokers report it, etc. At the very least, we could have each individual state tax income (and do the tracking), then give a percentage to the fed. At least then, there would be no centralized Big Brother behemoth tracking everyone, no double-income taxation (fed and state), and states would have an incentive to keep their income taxes reasonable, or lose residents (or they could tax at a high rate on purpose to keep the riff-raff out).

There once was a crackpot who thought that the Iron Curtain would come down.
A bunch of smart people told him he was delusional.
Gave a little speech where he said “Tear down this Wall”.
What became of that guy?

Candidates have near-term goals and long-range goals.
I don't think anybody's going to be disappointed because the next president doesn't abolish the IRS.
On second thought, some people probably will be, because they don't realize that major changes like that don't (and shouldn't) happen overnight.
Anyway, nobody should fault a candidate for raising awareness and getting a dialogue started that won't bear fruit for some time to come.
You have to start somewhere.

OK, so we don’t abolish the IRS. We abolish everyone that works there.
