They ALL work for the same side.

Not sure who’s side that is. But it’s not the American people.

That’s the truth.

We haven’t had a president who had America’s interests at heart since Ronald Reagan.

Sounds like he and Jimmy Carter should team up, be moved to The Home and not be allowed out.

LOL - Good one.

I’m skeptical of the timing of this. Trying to throw Cheney and Runsfeld under the bus to rehabilitate the Bush name in a last ditch effort to save Jeb!’s candidacy, perhaps?

GHWB should have listened to Gen. Norman Schwartzkoff and allowed him to go all the way to Baghdad instead of listening to that pussy Colin Powell. Second Iraq war would have never been needed and much of the mess in the Middle East would not exist today. A huge mistake was not accepting reality that the Shiites Sunnis and Kurds were never going to get along; and create a three state solution with the oil resources shared equally amongst the three states.

So glad you had the integrity of us to say the hindsight truth.
Important context considerations:
HW Bush I did not go after Saddam in 1992’s Iraq war 1 for the oft repeated reason that eliminating him would “leave a power vaccum”.
Saddam’s WMD 1998 games with UN Weapons inspectors provoked the west to action after 14 UN violation citations.
Amnesty International and other human rights reports indicated that Saddam’s regime killed upwards of 600,000 kurds and others deemed enemies of Saddam’s Bathist party.
Saddam moved convoys of WMDs into Syria during the March 2003 lead up to war.
Germany, Italy, and British intelligence all reported that Iraq had WMDs.
Conversely, Germany and other countries warned America that we’d be going into a no win scorpion’s nest in an Iraqi war.
What were we to do?
Ultimately Jefferson’s warning to: “avoid foreign entanglements” is correct.
However, there were any factors that lead up to the decision to go to war, and I’m of the mind that it was not all a neo-con contrivance.
However, I may be naively idealistic.

So, what GHW is saying is that his son was a wimp who let his underlings intellectually intimidate him and push him around.

Are we supposed to think Jeb would be any better?

I think George Sr. had lots of input on this book from his son, George the Younger. I hear him speaking about Rumsfeld and Cheney here through his father’s book. I’ll bet I’m right.

His book points out that his son was incompetent and was not in charge while president.

Looks like the Rino’s are having some internal strife. The thing that is maybe the most telling about George H.W. Bush is his term “vodo economics.” That’s what he called Regan’s economic plan. The same plan that brought prosperity to the US during the 80’s.

Comparing wars is a fools errand. Afghanistan bears no resemblance to Vietnam, or any other war. You really thought we could impose our own solution there? We went in to kill Al Queda and get out. Nothing more and nothing less. The day after we got Bin Laden we should have gotten out.
