He also had massive help from the Media/Entertainment industry, (which needs to be wiped out before we can fix the nation) and they covered for much of his stupidity.

Other than that, he knows Chicago politics, and you can get a lot accomplished when you are willing to threaten people with the entire force of the Federal Government.

But it doesn't take much in the way of brains to do this.
