There are numerous local bans on the carrying of knives in the United States.

Knife Rights has a good success rate at repealing them state by state.

The chance to do so in Texas only comes once every two years.

I have been reading that Texas is on the verge of OPEN CARRY!! That is so awesome! I might move there. Under the law which is whizzing through the legislature to an accepting wonderful Governor is a law that if you pass a test and can shoot 50 rounds and score 70% you can strap on a holster and bunt line special and protect yourself and innocent folks from thugs and thieves with awesome deadly force!! This is happening right now and will be the greatest thing since sliced white bread!!

“I have been reading that Texas is on the verge of OPEN CARRY!!”

It has been a hard fought battle, with the strongest social movement since the 60’s involving thousands of open carry marches. Yes, that is correct, over 2,500 open carry marches in Texas in the last 18 months.

That is why it is near passage. Tens of thousands of Texans are demanding restoration of second amendment rights.

prohibited knives in Texas

Praytell what are those?

You can open carry an AR-15 but not a broadsword or a spear?

It is mostly local laws that prohibit knives down to as little as 1.5 inches in blade length.

State law limits blade length to 5.5 inches. It appears that this bill would do away with that limit.

Ask 10 cops which knives are illegal.

I bet you get 10 different answers.

“Ask 10 cops which knives are illegal.

In 10 different jurisdictions in Texas, all the different answers could be accurate.

There may be some local laws that prohibit locking blade knives as well, but not sure. A locking blade should be considered a safety feature.
