I think it's time we quit hiding our heads in the sand about this. I suspect there is a demonstrable correlation between race and intelligence. We've tried pretending it away for years, but all the logical convolutions in the world won't alter the reality.
Notice that Africa, despite being the "cradle of civilization," is still a dust-blown, stone-age hellhole for the most part, and that its inhabitants are largely -- you guessed it -- of a certain race. Much younger civilizations have far outstripped them in terms of intellectual, industrial, and economic progress.

The book is likely to prove this to you, well beyond “demonstrable correlation.”
It is a “truth” which very few are comfortable talking about.
To fully understand the book, it helps to be well grounded in statistics, etc.
Another “truth” which very few are comfortable talking about, is the fact blacks in America commit murder at more than seven times the rate of whites. This according to annual reports by the Department of Justice.
(That situation is the case, in the UK as well)

Much like Milwaukee, other than the near north sides, the cities are wonderful places to live. I think a little more effort would clean both of them up in a matter of months.

And “school choice.” San Leandro borders on East Oakland, CA. For years the white Italian government in SL was able to keep the Blacks out. Now with county-wide “school choice,” Blacks have infected San Leandro and to a lesser extent, Castro Valley. One SL cop told me (when I was at the PD pressing charges on a Black girl for trying to pass a bad check for $3200. against my account) that they have to have three black & white’s at SL High School every afternoon to try and keep order and that she already had three “black parent” complaints against her for “excessive force.”
I’m not arguing your point, but there appear to be mitigating factors. There are studies that demonstrate black immigrants from the Caribbean out-perform U.S. born blacks in terms of income, home ownership, marriage rates, educational achievement. I remember reading it years ago (20+ years+) and not since.

It is a big thick book. It deals with many, many aspects of the topic.
The primary thesis of the book, is that America’s social dysfunctions are closely tied to the intelligence of the individuals. Therefore the people who wind up on welfare, in prison, giving birth outside marriage, dropping out of school, etc. have relatively lower IQs regardless of race.
It then goes on to show that races have greater incidents of social dysfunction, again due to lower IQs.
It is quite a well documented and scholarly work. The authors were well recognized in their fields. Herrnstein is dead, but Murray is still active, and has many provocative ideas.
I remember when The Bell Curve came out. It was not a book to read on the subway.
