Much if not most of that water used on golf courses there is reclaimed water. Not as wasteful as it appears.

Orange County processes its’ raw sewage, and then pumps the reclaimed water down into the local aquifers.
It also has a complex system of channeling water from the Santa Ana River into an array of settling ponds, where it then drains back into the same aquifers.

To move away from drought, though, folks in CA might try moving back to the northeast.Yes, that area is already blue, so it's a good fit. Nonetheless, if they want to settle in Maryland, they can keep on going, as far as I'm concerned.

Yet last month the Bureau of Reclamation drained Folsom and other reservoirs on the American and Stanislaus rivers of more than 70,000 acre feet of waterenough to meet the annual needs of a city of half a million peoplefor the comfort and convenience of fish. Government officials who are entrusted with the careful management of our water squandered it in less than three weeks to nudge baby salmon toward the Pacific Ocean (to which they swim anyway) and to keep the river at just the right temperature for the fish by flushing the colder water stored in the reservoirs.

Yes, I have have done work in the labs at the treatment plant in Fountain Valley several times over the years, they have been doing major additions to the facility for a good ten years. I’m really happy that they are adding back to the aquifers instead of just using it for irrigation.

They used to pump the treated sewage out to sea. If you can get past the yuck factor, it really is a good use of a resource.

Yeah it's all mental, the water that exists the process is almost too pure, to just drink, but the yuck factor as you say has had people protesting for years. I think they just went ahead without telling people this time.

Actually, there was fairly good acceptance of the project from the proposal stage through development and implementation.
But this is Orange County....
