Conspiricists always say that people who don’t buy their theories are trusting authorities. It’s not a mater of trust. It’s a matter of using the brain. There’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for what was observed. It’s been seen before, and this one can even be tied to a specific flight. Should we believe that simple reasonable explanation, or should we ignore those facts, and instead propose a whole serious of silly notions in their place, none of which have independent validation? The trust in that scenario isn’t by those who accept the reasonable explanation, it’s by those who believe the silly one that requires leaps of faith.
