One possible explanation: if the Iranians claimed they were going to be conducting a live fire drill as part of their exercises... Well, you don't want to be around to be mistaken for the target. Of course departing to a safe standoff distance to observe the live fire exercise is one thing, fleeing is another. I wouldn't be surprised at rag-head TV characterizing it in a most unflattering light.

From watching the video and reading the English subtitles, I drew the same inference. The narrator didn't claim that the USN destroyer "fled" or acted out of fear, but that it withdrew immediately upon warning from the IRI Navy. Such a warning of an impending live fire exercise makes perfect sense -- as does an observer's immediate withdrawal to a safe distance.

I am still unclear why anyone would believe an Iranian TV news report on this matter.

Showing video of a naval vessel cruising away from a TV camera seems to suffice as proof.

Plus, I do not believe ANYTHING this raghead jihadi says on the video. That pic of that alledged US Destroyer could have been plucked off of a million different places on the internet.
