After the last weeklong outage I got a hose with a siphon pump built right in. Just put the end into the tank and jerk it up and down. Yes, it looks silly. But in about 40 seconds it was bringing up the gas out of my mother in law’s car. The next day we were able to get out and get some gas about 50 miles away.
I must admit the act of drinking beer with chocolate cake has never crossed my mind let alone my palate.
heck we might even come up with a method to use solar panels as weapons.
Only solution is to have the skillsets to restart civilization.
I'm ok with that.
Mad-Max won't last too long. It disrupts people's lives. Even Wllm Conqueror figured that out, left the english bureaucrats running stuff, and kept things mostly the same.
That was a harsh time with children dead in ditches and on spits, roasting.

Thats why I’m thinking to buy the copper coils now, they are hard to manufacture. I thought about beer but don’t drink a lot of it and probably wouldn’t like anything without barley or hops.
My uncle used to make plum bounce and my wife does now. Basically take a fruit rich in natural sugar, add some more sugar and then seal it. When the fruit bounces its a weak fruity booze.
I’d prefer whisky or everclear. For one it would have some other side benefits as a sanitizer. For that I need a pot and some coil. The coil could also be used to distill water for drinking.
Even cooks know how to make a wood gas generator to provide fuel to run an internal combustion engine.
FEMA had directions in a pamphlet, for goodnesssakes.

I’m pert sure they’ll be busy with the Zombie riots for a while...plenty of time to fill up the 500 gal tank on the trailer.
But practice makes perfect.
Third option for getting water out of well:

That thing full of water weighs about 20 lbs. Add 1000 ft of (wet) rope, and consider the work required to get a few hours worth of water. Yes some wells are shallow, others are not.
The middle ages will hold few examples or lessons for what will happen today. A thousand years ago, 90% of what people ate was grown within a few miles of where they lived. Even 100 years ago, 90% of what people ate was grown within perhaps 100 miles.
Today, 90% of what people depend on for food was grown many 100s or even thousands of miles away, and it all depends on an elaborate technological ballet to arrive on their table.
This is new in the human experience. Our cities will be death traps two weeks after the power is out. No government power can wave a wand and fix the FUBAR.
When the power goes out, the food stops moving and the cities explode into infernos from coast to coast. That is new in human history. I ask you to provide a comparable example where 90% of billions of people around the globe could starve in one year, after a cascade of grid collapses.
We are in new territory. Electricity has become our oxygen, and our techno-world has become like a moon base under a dome, fed by an artificial atmosphere.
If the power goes down, the “moon base” dies.
Ground control to Major Tom, your circuit’s dead, there’s something wrong.
I got a shipment (big burlap bag) of green coffee beans (Costa Rica, Tres Rios, La Magnolia estate) in today.
So I roasted some for in the morning.
Ain't no way to keep that secret. Roasting green coffee beans makes some serious smoke.
But it's good coffee, and much cheaper in bulk than the ground crap you get in grocery stores.

Now I understand why the border has been opened. It was to allow the MS-13, and others, to come across to boost their numbers here in the USA. They have been bought out and are waiting for the call to action. The MS-13 is in all parts of our country, as are the Latin Kings, Crips, Bloods, and others. In addition to the street “skills” they have learned, our military has been infiltrated by gang members, so now we have a combo of Govt trained gang members and others, all potentially being bought out by ISIS/MB/Commies, etc.
I just have to keep everything in perspective from a spiritual perspective.
Bad instructions, it turned out, that left me with scars on the back of my neck.
But practice makes perfect.

Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.
I’ve seen plans for those made out of PVC but those look higher quality.
I’m in Florida and would have to go down about 12 inches to get water. It would need some serious work before its safe to drink but I wont be hurting for water.
No mains electricity, no city water, no grocery store.
Sucks for those 90%, I suppose, but they aren't going to let things stay chaotic for long, either.
Me? I learned, being a mountain man, that indoor plumbing is really cool. Flush toilets are to fight for and work hard to maintain, and that people won't put up with a bunch of primitive crap after they've seen the good life.
They will make it work, and put down the despoilers.
Weak men that would normally cringe will stand up like lions when they have to put up with their wives dealing without running water.
Good news. I will probably have HOT running water in the house for the first time in 8 years... sometime in 2015.

Have YOU ever build a wood gas generator and cleaner to run an internal combustion machine?

During the 2004 hurricanes down here in Florida we didn’t see any cops. They were all at the banks and places handing out water.
In the neighborhoods, nary a one.
Imagine that landscape of grid down across the USA for a year.
“Solar panels are vewy vewy qwyet.”
Out here new homes are being offered with solar systems.
“Do I have to put a sarcasm tag?”
No but bbq sauce would help.
