I’m Jewish, and I disagree with the Muslim bashing that’s been going on

Dan,
Are you suggesting that "the very fabric of our nation" goes back only to 1973 when the Sears Tower was erected?
Most people assume "the very fabric of our nation" to begin at the beginning.
Were there any Muslims at Jamestown, or on the Mayflower? Maybe there was a Muslim with Columbus on the Nina, Pinta, or Santa Maria?
Were there any Muslims in Congress on July 4, 1776? Did any Muslims ratify the United States Constitution?
These are the things that most of us consider to be "the very fabric of our nation."
That's why there is the outrage. The very things that make up "American Exceptionalism" are the things that Obama now wants to attribute to Muslims instead.

"Post 94: I dont support the Muslim religion per se. What I do support is the right of non-violent people to practice any religion of their choosing."
It's NOT a religion.

Correct. In the context of Eid al Fitr, Obama was praising the muslim *culture*, which has contributed nothing measurable to the fabric of the US.

I'm no more a vegetarian than this joker is a Jew.

is Dan also a libertarian? Far worse than that.. I figure he must be queer.
He's got a blog, he likes Ron Paul and Muslims....
Can faggotry follow far behind that?

The best Muslims a[r]e the ones who adopt western values of property rights, rule of law, and individual liberty. The worst Muslims are the ones who reject these beliefs. Problem is, those are the best Muslims by the standards of Islam.
Islam aspires to be more than a religion. It seeks to dominate the world. That must be stopped, no matter how many people get killed in the process!

The author left out
Zalmay Khalilzad, who served as US Ambassador to the UN, Iraq, and Afghanistan under GWB and was the highest-ranking Muslim in the Bush Administration. He also served in the Reagan Administration, advising on the Soviet war in Afghanistan and the Iran-Iraq War.
Khalilzad was born in Afghanistan and first came to the US as an exchange student. He's married to an American, and the kids are named Alexander and Maximilian, not Mohammed and Mahmoud.

Why? On what basis?

On the point that we should judge people as individuals, I agree wholeheartedly. I would never pre-judge anyone based on their religious heritage.
I also agree, in general, American Moslems are probably the most tolerable and most integrated of all Western Moslems. I think America's sense of nationalism and integration has gone a long way in that, as compared to Europe's surrender to its immigration wave from Africa and the Middle East.
With that said, Detroit is a hell hole of Moslem intolerance. The fact that the police do nothing to reign in Moslem violence does not help the matter.
As far as the Islamic world is concerned, there is a pattern there of either all out extremism or among the vast populace, silent consent for what the terrorists are doing.

I agree. We are not at war with Moslems but we are at war with Islam. Islam IMHO, is a political ideology much like Nazism was. And we were none too tolerant of Nazism. It is, like the old Nordic religions, a religion of looting and conquest.

My first disgust with Bush was when during the State of the Union address he declared Islam a religion of peace. I turned off the TV.

That and the 400 year history of Barbary pirates and their slave industry. All in the name of Jihad.

There are MANY of them about. They remind of Warsaw’s leadership during WWII that lead their people meekly into the Ghetto, with assurances that they would all be safe.

Yes, if you poll even the most moderate of Islamic nations, you still get well over 70% who want to see Israel wiped out of existence.

A significant percentage of U.S. slaves were Muslim. It’s likely that jazz music was created with at least a lot of Muslim influence.
