No they don’t remember a damn thing. I remember the involuntary hospitalization and I also remember quarantine and polio and encephalitis and other things spread by mosquitoes.
I posted here two days ago about the dangers of TB. Much the same as you. I remember it though I was a kid in the 50s it made an impression on me. My parents knew it well as did their parents.
Never more than a generation away from losing our liberty and never more than a generation away from forgetting hard learned lessons.
Rush cited some poll today about the millennials... They think government is too big, too inefficient with too many regulations but they intend to vote demorat. He is right about them being skulls full of mush though I think it is closer to excrement.
One of my memories of my mamaw my dads mom was in her last year she was in an oxygen tent. No one today would likely even know what I meant except ones old enough to remember that and the iron lung. A kid in my neighborhood lived in one.
The U.S. has tried repeatedly through mission work, volunteers, peace corps, etc to bring modern healthcare and modern sanitation to third world nations. Yet much of it is rejected either by corrupt governments or the people themselves not willing to lift themselves up. Now they are invited here?
This nation ain't seen cultural collapse yet but it's coming if a reversal doesn't happen soon.
In Brazil the city of Salvador even in 1977 the street orphans had the capacity and lack of conscience to either kill you or do you serious permanent harm. I didn't forget that port. It made Tito's Yugoslavia look good before he died. They've just not seen it. Nor to they want to heed warnings.

In the view of liberals, to address an epidemic is to pass judgment. They don't view it as addressing a problem.
A bit off subject but the third world isn’t going to be changed by us. I’m not sure what is going to change it but we won’t. Corruption and totalitarianism is well entrenched there and is doing pretty well here and getting better.
I saw containers of AIDS drugs “Provided by the people of the Unites States of America” set on the docks in Nigeria until the chillers ran out of fuel and the drugs were ruined. Why, the right tributes could not be paid to move them through customs.
Let's start calling it Obamalosis.
