I can't stop thinking about those poor men left dead on the road to Bahgdad. I can't sleep.

Maliki needs to go. Then we’ll be more inclined to do something. We’ve made this clear to them. Maliki is not a poker player. He believed the Shia could handle everything themselves. They still may be able to but if he continues to exlude the Sunnis -which is the problem, he will be facing 2 million ISIS rather than 10,000.

They already are facing 2 million ISIS, of which the 10K is just the fighting branch, and the rest of the Sunni are logistical/intelligence support. You think ISIS would have come into Iraq if they were not confident of the support of Iraq's Sunnis? The Sunnis who used to run Iraq under Saddam and miss the days of their wealth and power?

So that means NEVER....no end to the conflict.

The Romans fought Carthage, on and off, for over a hundred years. Finally the Romans decided that there would be no end to the conflict as long as a single Carthaginian was left alive. The conflict finally ended.

Interesting....however our world has gone multicultural and it would be harder to accomplish such a feat.

I watch a lot of news coverage and I missed it.

You missed it because it wasn't reported. A few days after the fall of Mosul (a huge event), I went to NBC's main website. I was curious about how the MSM was covering the story.

Their home page had NOTHING about the fall of Mosul. And there was nothing at all about the insurgent's drive towards Baghdad.

>>While I do not condone the mass beheadings and killings and seeing such images completely disgusts me, I can only think that Muslims have a culture that is antithetical to ours and the west. They have a fundamental belief system that is completely different. I am not saying Muslims don’t have feelings, for instance, a Muslim mother would cry in sorrow over her child’s natural death. However, the same Muslim mother would send her child to be a suicide bomber and later cry in sorrow over her child’s death.

Muslims are not prepared, because of their belief system, to live in what we consider the modern world. Our notions of freedom, liberty and democracy are not comprehendible to Muslims due to their belief system. They will fight for revenge, oppression and evil, but they will not fight and spill their own blood for their own freedom.

This fact alone means that US policy for Muslim nations should be one of destruction when our interests are threatened or attacked and that of containment otherwise.

In the case of current day Iraq our interests are threatened. It is a result of policy of wasting our national treasure on rebuilding an unready nation and more recently a policy disengagement and near surrender by the current Marxist occupant of the White House.

We should have a military presence in Iraq. One to contain situations like these, but also to project power in the region to protect our interests. We need not meddle in Iraqi’s everyday lives, feel sorry for them, or try to make them into Westerners. We should however control them to the point that our interests are protected and are successful. <<

I agree with the majority of what you posted. I do not think we should have a military presence in Iraq. Their beliefs are 180 degrees out of sync with ours as you have stated. I will fight for Christianity, nothing else. I see muslims killing muslims and that’s fine with me. No different than communists killing communists.

Yes, I agree. They are small in number so they’re trying to scare the people into submission.

I do not think we should have a military presence in Iraq.

The reason why I think we should have a military presence in Iraq is to project power in the region. Iraq is a strategic location. I don't have images of our troops walking down the streets of Iraqi cities. During the war we captured and controlled multiple Iraqi military airbases (7 or so If I recall correctly). The airbases have runways in excess of 10,000 feet; perfect for landing anything we want. It would be on these airbases that we would have a military presence. If the Iraqis or foreign terrorists act up, we would simply blow them up.

I really don't give a crap about collateral damage or what other countries think. Hence, we bomb the crap out them al a Dresden. Our political correctness and fear of other nations feelings have dictated our actions. Russia and China don't give a crap, why should we? Remember all the accusations that we started the war for oil? That was false, but I believe that we should have sucked Iraq dry of its oil as part of war reparations. We didn't start terrorism and as tax payers we should not be paying for it. If it wasn't for the US, UK, France and the Dutch the entire middle east would be humping camels in the dessert instead of becoming wealthy from their oil.

Muslims do not have to like us. The can hate us for all I care. They do need to live in absolute fear of us. Maybe that brings respect, it will definitely bring submission. The world 'Islam' literally translates to 'submission'. That is key.

This is the only way that I can figure out how to live in peace short of genocide. Perhaps one day they will take Jesus Christ as their Savior. That is the long term solution, but obviously not something our government can influence.

I’d prefer to send over whatever type of aircraft is needed for the job whether it’s a drone or a B-2. Get the job done, bring the men and equipment home. There’s no need for us to maintain a base in their litterbox.

But zero’s highest adviser, Jarrett, is Tehran-born, Chicago raised. Maybe zero’s just faking being Sunni so the Islamic world will factor him in.

When Obama was elected, this was my expectation of what would happen, but I tried to put it away and just think good thoughts that they would rise to the occasion.

Islam has been doing this for 14 centuries, but we now live in the internet age -which has opened up truly disgusting potentialities.

It’s very disturbing to me that children are exposed to this crap daily and very graphically via the internet. Even themselves posing “reaction videos”, a kind of competition of sentimental/emotional one-ups-man-ship. Is that in part a coping mechanism for a world so disgusting? I don’t know.

I saw the movie “Jaw” when I was six, probably completely in appropriate for me at that age, but it happened. What a six year might stumble on Today is far and away worse and most notably REAL.

I don’t think my upbringing was particularly good (family problems), whatever, but by any comparison I was very sheltered from the psychological terror that children are exposed to Today.

They’re more about evacuating than surrendering. Get out of uniform, leave town. That’s why.

Freedom is a universal human desire.

Yeah, but order is a precursor to freedom. We've been exalting democracy over order, and trying to graft it onto profoundly disorganized societies. The result is anarchy. The people have to be safe in their lives and their property, freedom and democracy are then the icing on the cake.
