He is using the watt riots as an example of rebellion . .and is saying blacks has a legitimate right to rebellion and rebellion against oppression is legitimate (but peaceful if possible) to win rights and freedoms as citizens and we do not want to see us go backwards and start losing rights back to that government..

A “polished” speaker Bundy ain’t but “stupid.”? Nah. He just asked an honest question, ie better off or not? and then noted that when he visits Vegas he sees negros sitting in their front yards doing absolutely nothing. The ability to pay the rent while doing nothing clearly indicates too much Gummint. I saw the same thing in Baltimore a half century ago and have noted it before. It was disgusting then and it still is. But seeing it is in no way rassiss.

Cliven Bundy has probably not had a lot of education about what happened in the country during slavery, as he's a man in his 70s who has been working on the land all his life. The bottom line also is that it is his right to say what he believes is right. Was it inartful? Of course, and I hardly believe that he believes men are better off under slavery. Any thinking person would look at this remark in context, and I am really disappointed in those who draw back in horror, like Rand Paul and Glen Beck, as if they had touched a hot stove, without taking the time to check its temperature to see if there really was a danger of being burned. This has nothing to do with the land issue, or the overreach of the Federal government.

It was great acting and poignant for Morgan Freeman to give this scolding speech to Denzel Washington in the movie Glory, but Cliven Bundy can't poorly articulate the same thing.
