A little known possible fact ... Patrick Ferguson, a British soldier killed at the Battle of Kings Mountain, had George Washington lined up in his sights once and could have changed History if Patrick Ferguson had pulled his trigger or so the story goes. Don't know if is true but wanted to share. Thank You for this thread!
I have no doubt that he did pray.
He prayed with and for the men while at the New Windsor cantonment.
He also ordered the construction of “The Temple of Light”, a church at the site.
The lead into a lot of mason bashing.
Indians also had ample opportunity to kill Washington on his high-profile white horse, but they viewed him a Godly man and couldn’t bring themselves to do it.
Was this during George Washington’s survey trips or during the French/Indian Wars? Never knew the Indians, of that time, saw George Washington as a Godly man. Interesting, and Thanks for that tidbit.
Washington’s adopted daughter Nellie Custis said there was no ambiguity. Her father was a Christian.

If you haven’t seen “TURN” on AMC, I highly recommend it.
Very entertaining, well done and fairly accurate.
It’s about the spy ring on Long Island after the British take NYC. George Washington is mentioned frequently.
I learned that from Glenn Beck. LOL
We all know that Washington was a liberal, atheistic Democrat who was fighting to bring about the New World Order and was diametrically opposed to the Tea Party and the Koch brothers. If he was praying at all, it was most likely to request Gaia’s help in establishing abortion as a right that he planned to put in the Declaration of Independence. At least that’s what my teacher told me.
Had never heard that regarding Indians considering George Washington a Godly man. Might make sense though since George Washington is known to have travel the country extensively.
This is the one I like the best. Shows his beloved horse, Nelson and those NJ woods so deep back then.
Perhaps one of the more artistically gifted among us could create “Obama at Valley Forge” and put him on a prayer rug.
Some won’t rest until they’ve completely torn down and rewritten our history.
Washington, like every man, had his faults but he was extraordinary and I don’t think there has ever been another like him.
