Two hosts on a Seattle radio station yesterday said that Obama should come to Oso. A few people sent email to them and said they had sent Obama an email and said he should come. While these hosts are center-left, they did say something to the effect: yes, and when he comes he can swing over to Medina for a fund raiser for the democrat party on his way to Oso. They’ve mentioned in the past that it ticks them off when Obama comes and only goes to Medina for private fund raisers and never talks to the regular folks.
1. I don’t want him here - ever, and especially not now.
2. I suspect he may come for a photo op and to look like “he cares” to the citizens of Oso, Darrington and Arlington (victims of all 3 towns in the mudslide).
3. For those that don’t know, Medina is a community on the eastside of Seattle (by Bellevue) where a lot of very wealthy folks live in very large, expensive homes, many on Lake Washington. Obama has had fund raisers in private homes there in the past. If he comes to Oso, he could certainly swing by there, and probably will, so us taxpayers pay for his (primarily fund-raising) trip.
Yep, Ron and Don had a blind squirrel moment on that. Even surprised me that they dissed “The One”
They were mentioning it again yesterday (primarily Ron) and they’ve started a petition with the thought being that if they can get 100k signatures the WH will have to come or explain why they’re not (sigh). Again, we do NOT need him here. I doubt he wants to come anyway - most of the golf courses are rather soggy right now with the rain we’ve had (and more is expected).
I do think it’s kinda funny that he’s referred to Medina several times as the Obama ATM. He also made a comment in the last week or so that at least President Bush quit playing golf during the Iraq war. Don even had to agree that while he didn’t agree with Bush on a lot, he does respect him with all the work he does with the military, etc. (maybe these 2 are starting to see a glimmer of light)
Apparently the Sect’y of Homeland Security and Director of Fema are coming this weekend (big whoop). I have to be in Seattle this weekend for my nephew’s playoff game - - I’ll be ticked if I get tied up in traffic because of them (I live in the burbs).
It was cool that some of the Seahawks and Sounders went up there the other day and played ball, etc. with the kids. Apparently, because of the road being washed out, what had been about a 1-1/2 trip from Seattle, now takes 3-1/2 hours.
