I'm no believer in temperance, but if you don't think alcohol has caused serious problems for millions, you're sadly mistaken.

On the contrary, I KNOW alcohol causes problems. In fact, I think it is a far worse drug than marijuana. But the country didn't end when Prohibition was repealed. However, we have numerous hypocrites on FR that think that their drug (booze ) is ok while legal pot is the end of the world. Either we make them both illegal (we tried that - it failed big time) or we realize that in a free society we cannot regulate personal choices without sacrificing that freedom FOR EVERYONE. I'm sick of Freepers who should know better supporting the police state, as long as it punishes the people they don't like, or regulates the vices that only other people indulge.

How did this country manage to survive until the early 1900s when the Progressives came along and rescued us with prohibition laws?
