Because they weren’t good enough singers.
I don’t particularly care for Barbra ... but, really, you can’t deny her talent nor her influence in music. Without her, others wouldn’t have made it later on.
Go listen to Linda Ronstadts version of Blue Bayou or Faithless Love and tell me that she couldnt out sing the vast majority of those on the list, and any list of the greatest women in music for the last 50 years that doesn’t include Loretta Lynn loses all credibility anyway.
Also, Blondie is a group, Deborah Harry is the lead singer. I can’t say she comes to mind as one of the most important female singers of recent decades, but at least they should give her credit if they think she is deserving of being listed.
Barbra Streisand does have talent. Too bad she is not sane.
BS, back in the day......yeah, I’d hit that. The conversation might be painful but thems the breaks.
I’m with you. I was only a kid when she sang People. It swept my heart away.
Where’s Enya?
.
Mr Eric Holder? Calling Mr Eric Holder?
Right on both counts. Loretta is certainly better than Shania Twain and Taylor Swift. I recently saw a tv interview in which Dolly Parton was quoted as having said there were only three good female singers, Barbra Streisand, Linda Rondstadt and Connie Smith. Dolly said she and all the others are just pretenders.
What about Connie Francis? Jeez...
