I just got a new HP Pavilion with 8 on it and I’m liking it.
It takes a bit of getting used to but seems very stable.

About as likely as an app to make the Obama-Doesn’t-Care site
work like magic.

I run 8.1 with every application turned off and Classic Shell so it looks like Windows XP. AFAIC the applications section was a waste of space.

Yeah, it's called a 12-year old Pentium PC.

Yes, it’s called VirtualBox from Oracle. A free virtual machine, and you can get a blob from Microsoft so that you don’t have to install XP, just click on it.

This looks a lot more complex than “which {whatever program}”. Linux FTW.

Thanks for posting. Reluctantly purchased new laptop with Win 8 and was pleasantly impressed. Runs well no problems!

I didn’t want to give up the XP but I have no regrets. Windows appears to have gotten this one right.

    Gee, what a surprise,
 Not one engineering/scientific application listed...........
Almost like a Apple OS listing..............

Yeah, it's called a 12-year old Pentium PC.? Got one of those on the floor here running Win98SE for the stuff MS trashed with all the useless "upgrades" that no one asked for.
