Torron Eeles has NHS operation to fix grotesque break in his arm cancelled four times
Injured plumber Torron Eeles claims the NHS has cancelled an operation to fix a grotesque break in his arm four times.
Torron, 50, who broke it 10 months ago, said the hospital delays meant he has been unable to work.
And after being denied employment and support allowance, he says he faces losing his home.
The dad-of-three said: "This has been going on and on and it has been a complete nightmare.
"I've never heard of anyone having a broken arm for 10 months.
"It's been so long the bones have knitted back together.
"How the Jobcentre can say I'm fit to work I don't know. I was on incapacity benefit until a few weeks ago." But the hospital said they had only cancelled two ops on safety grounds.
He fractured his humerus bone after falling downstairs in December.
A&E put his arm in plaster but within a few weeks surgeons said the bones were too far apart, meaning he needed a metal plate inserted.
Mr Eeles, of Welham Green, Herts, claimed his first two ops at the Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Welwyn Garden City, Herts, were cancelled due to a lack of beds and time, a third because of high blood pressure and another over his smoking.
But Nick Carver, of East and North Herts NHS Trust, said: "The first time in February his blood pressure was too high. His second was cancelled because he had failed to act on our surgeon's advice to give up smoking.
"If our surgeons are guilty of anything, then it is having the best clinical interests of patients at heart."

When the state pays for your healthcare the state sets the standards. The state can even penalize you for “dangerous” and “harmful” behavior such as smoking.

(Why do you need a fire extinguisher when you can call the fire department?)
