Texas sucks. Its not only the place its the people and culture that are disingenuous and inauthentic masked as southern hospitality. You will not get past level 2 of deep relationships.
If you’re a Conservative, South Carolina is a great place to live.
Sweetheart, if you have the choice to move from a blue state to a red state, find one with the climate and lifestyle you can live with if SHTF never comes.
Join a church, make friends, keep God with you. When the time comes, if ever, you will find what you need.
Do not fear.
I wouldn’t base huge personal decisions on hypothetical possibilities that have a low probability of occurrence. I did that to some extent and it was a mistake. But good luck with whatever you do.
First, what kind of work might you be seeking? And, why a communal situation with a church or similar group on a farm or ranch?
These are some rather curious items and I would like to offer some suggestions of places you might consider, but I need to better understand what you are seeking. Are you principally seeking a work environment, recreational environment or just something that isn’t in the north? Also, do you have a climate in mind that you would find more desirable than others? Depending on location and what your expectations are, southern weather extremes can be pretty harsh.
So, if you can offer a little more detail, I would be happy to offer some suggestions. Freepmail me if you want some privacy.
Did that in the 60s.....lol.....fun, but it all blew up....lol
is it because of the media hype and lies about the “default”
there can't be a default . the media is lying. if they don't raise the debt ceiling the constitution demands the debt be serviced first and the gov takes in 10 x what is needed to service the debt, pay the interest on it.
Perhaps you should consider moving to the Asia-Pacific region instead of going to the South. You can start all over here, hopefully you have a college degree. Even if it’s a B.A. in Political Science like mine, you can still grab some intruiging job opportunities in my neck of the woods.
My friend, I really hope my speculation about the disaster following a possible default is not encouraging you to uproot your life, especially if you’re working hard on a degree.
I am basing a lot of this on unknowable variables, and the possibility that Obama is far more sinister than we ever gave him credit for. I’m just a conservative hardliner, not an economist or an insider or anything like that
Moving around, especially with nothing set in stone before you leave, is tough right now. If SHTF, you have no choice, but right now, do not take any rash measures unless it is immediately beneficial to do so.
Chances are that they kick the can down the road on this whole debt ceiling thing.
It would be very hard to beat central to east Tennessee.
Do not consider anything west of the Tennessee River.
“communal living”
Pilgrims tried it.
Our country is trying it.
It’s really not working so well.
NOOB!
Everyone has their own criteria, but for my money, Upstate South Carolina is the best place in the country to live. In the research I did to find a new place to live, it came out far on top of all of the others.
I wanted a place with 4 seasons, but mild winters, business-friendly policies, and lower taxes (especially property taxes as I find them the most odious)
They don’t call it the buckle of the bible belt for nothing, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for in a church.
I moved down three years ago and I absolutely love it. It’s bright, the weather is great, conservatives are the majority, my neighbors are awesome, local talk radio is good. Downtown Greenville is amazing. There are restaurants galore and everything you could ask for is close by when it comes to shopping.
And Trey Gowdy is my congressman! How much better does it get than that? lol
Communal living? Try Texas there used to be this place in Waco... I can’t remember the name though
On a more serious note. If your looking to start over I recommend Chattanooga/Cleveland Tennessee area.
Have you considered medication and intense therapy? Just asking.
I like Texas.
I live in middle TN....feels like Ohio now.....where I live southern accents are rare
We have been in undated
I was just in Dallas....a top 5 megaplex population center yet very hospitable and southern accents common....even in the Park Cities
Deep South very nice folks but huge black pops which hurts the city demos
Panhandle coast is good
Most folks move south they go to Texas or Nashville or Atlanta....black capital of USA....or Piedmont NC
many are libs....insufferable.....but not all
Some embrace us.....
Truly overall......Texas ...
