BTW, when my niece and nephew are ready, I will provide them this story...
For the time being they will be getting a new Kindle device with all the good stuff including your novels...I think they can handle it, and will eventually want more...This will be the next installment...
Theyh are going to have a great Christmas...I know I shouldn’t wait, but I figure its only a little over a month from now, and I think they’ll be ok, till then...
They have their favorite uncle to lean on, for now...
Somehow, a part of me wished this country really wasn’t so screwed up, as it is with these liberal/socialist people at the helm...
We’re just in the early stages of screwed up. If you think it was bad on the Titanic five minutes after hitting the berg, think about five hours.
Yep, considering the water was pretty darn chilly before those folks even figured it out...The hard way...
We are certainly on the same boat...Right???
Thanks for posting that link — helpful analogy. Don’t want to lose it.

Yep. It’s lifeboat time for sure. I’ve written a new 3K piece called “Get Yourself a Thirty-Footer and Go!” It’ll be out in a few days, and I’ll tack it onto the end of the Anthology on Kindle.
Does it describe how to learn to operate said thirty-footer?
It’s easy enough to learn. If you can sail a 14 footer you can sail a 40 footer more easily.
Is it (theoretically) possible to sail a small boat from Lake Michigan to the Mississippi river?
Ping for later re-read and thanks again
Bump for later read!
Bump for later reading.
Have read two of your books so far and they are excellent.
Merry Christmas, Matt!
PFLR
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year back to you.
Thank you once again, Matt. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
And a very happy new year!

Seems a clever take from “Dies the Fire” by S. M. Sterling.
In that series, all modern technology quits by magic, and magic itself seems to make a comeback, with multiple gods.
In that series, it is liberals who survive, while conservatives die off because they will not “cooperate”.
99%+ die off.
It is popular among liberals, I understand. I like your take better, because technology still works, it is just not being used.
Too hard for me to suspend disbelief, though. May you attract many of the readers of Sterling’s series.
The plot has holes, and in reality i think the militia type action by some fed-up patriots as well as looting could be used to justify an increasingly militaristic police type, encouraging and using technology to keep tabs, while it would be incongruous not to have China expanding its territory possible to here, in the end, it is the same unredeemed fallen nature that takes its course.
And there won't be any soft landing with a 19th century level of tech. That tech is gone too. Our collapse will just keep on collapsing. The outcomes will resemble either Mad Max anarchy, or North Korean totalitarian govt rule.
You are correct, of course, if the power goes out and stays out for a considerable period, over the whole world.
I do not find that a likely situation, though it is not impossible.
Shortwave radio receivers are ubiquitous, and even transmitters are widely available that run on very small amounts of easily produced power.
We might not know exactly what happened, but power production and electronic communication are such enormous force multipliers that I find it unlikely that individuals and organizations all over the globe would not be vigorously working on getting systems up and running.
