Food price decreases
In December 2008, the global economic slowdown, decreasing oil prices, and speculation of decreased demand for commodities worldwide brought about sharp decreases in the price of staple crops from their earlier highs. Corn prices on the Chicago Board of Trade dropped from US $7.99 per bushel in June to US $3.74 per bushel in mid-December; wheat and rice prices experienced similar decreases.[157] The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, however, warned against “a false sense of security”, noting that the credit crisis could cause farmers to reduce plantings.[158] FAO convened a World Summit on Food Security at its headquarters in Rome in November 2008, noting that food prices remained high in developing countries and that the global food security situation has worsened.
By early 2011 food prices had risen again to surpass the record highs of 2008. Some commentators saw this as the resumption of the price spike seen in 200708. Prices had dropped after good weather helped increase grain yields while demand had dropped due to the recession.
Oh, and I forgot to mention: the main causes of the French Revolution were unemployment and hunger.
#5 40 percent of all workers in the United States actually make less than what a full-time minimum wage worker made back in 1968.
Proof that he has sh*t for brains Jimmy Carter smiles.
Ditto that, and I think we can add the war on coal to the list.
wow...I blame the idiot drone socialists that elected him more than him!
there’s a copay for everything...I just won’t go to the dr unless its an emergency...thankfully, we aren’t on a lot of meds...
I am shocked too to see so called Christians voting for this creep....
Hopeless change bump
Leftists cannot defend reality
I've got two adult children and their spouses who voted for this guy....I'd like to tell them straight out that we had hoped to leave them some money when we're gone but the animal in chief is going to make sure everything we have is taken by the govt, so so sorry kids....my life's work for you won't be yours afterall...and its all your fault...
BUMP
Yes..true but blame also the stupid Republican establishment for not putting forth a true conservative! Romney also...for not having the wisdom to see also that he was one of our very worst candidates! What an ego.
What I mean by ‘not a political issue’ is that I feel as though someone’s political views are more of a moral thing than just ‘political’. I am a registered republican. I come from a long line of democrats even though my family is really conservative in their values. I love my country. I believe in the Constitution. I believe that abortion is the greatest moral wrong of our lifetime. I am a Christian. I support our military. Basically, everything that the party of Ronald Reagan used to stand for (or at least as I believed it.) More and more, my own family members have moved away from the democrat platform and either voted republican or changed their party affiliation.
I could not be friends with someone who say supported abortion, limiting my rights as guaranteed under the Constitution, supports same-sex ‘marriage’, etc. I am very disgusted at what the republican party has turned into especially in my own state—New York. They are practically democrats and worse, they no longer have any conviction.
So many elected officials no longer believe in anything. It is all about getting elected and staying in office. They do not care about us.
Sorry for the long-winded post, but my level of cynicism has grown exponentially since Zero became America’s dictator. I really pray for our next Ronald Reagan to save us, but I don’t see anyone who can do it.
Eh.
