This was written in reaction to a conversation I had here last week with a fellow Freeper named sport, as well as a posting on the Conservative Treehouse on 6/6/2013 called Why you should support George Zimmerman

Sport, thank you for helping me to get a handle on and put into words the guilt that I have felt over the way that I unfairly jumped on the lynch Zimmerman bandwagon.

He broke the first rule in a crisis situation. Negotiate first, attack last. He never negotiated.

What was funny about that situation was that Billy, the roommate I’d shared a room with who was a smoker, was trying to get Jon to go outside to smoke. Jon was just being an asshole, which I think was his major.

Saw a post from a lib the other day that said Trayvon's mommy and daddy probably taught him to be afraid of strangers that might kidnap him, so that is why he tried to fight George Zimmerman off and got murdered by that racist.

The media obsession with portraying Trayvon as a smiling 12-year-old is working.

I supported Trayvon Martin early on as well.

I really appreciate this forum and how the facts of the case have undercut the NBC/Crump/Corey narrative.

Yeah when you start getting info like he was into Fight Club, posting racist rants on Facebook, was into thug culture, that the little innocent Skittle and Ice Tea were actually used to make a drug called Line, that there were reports of burglaries all within the close vicinity of where he was living at the time with reports of a suspicious black male peering into windows that wore a hoodie, it sort of changes your perception about little ole innocent Trayvon.

I don’t think I sympathized with Trayvon early on. Not sure why. I do remember having serious problems with the media’s “white Hispanic” description of the beige/brown guy. Somebody was coloring the story.

Oh yeah forgot about his drug dealing activities at school and the burglary tools and large cache of jewelry found in his backpack. Of course he could have had a lot of girlfriends that just donated their jewelry to him and he just happened to have it on him when he was stopped.../s

I am sure many folks have had a change of view...once the facts were discovered. Glad to see another now realize what the truth is

I think it's great that you have seen the ruse, but I'm not sure you should be so hard on yourself for believing it the first time around. In my experience, honest people sometimes have a hard time realizing the scope to which dishonest people will lie. It's like meeting someone who walks backward everywhere they go - it's hard to wrap your head around how or why they would do such a thing.

You are welcome. I too owe you a thank you. Don’t be too hard on yourself. You were fooled by the media, You eventually saw through their lies and then based upon the facts, changed your mind.

Well, I was only duped for about 7 days, but those were the critical days when emotions were highest about this case.
