The seat was safe, before the IRS started to screw grassroots activists.
Prize tagline nomination!
Yeah, I’m not a big fan of “moderates”.
Maybe I'm the exception, but the way I look at these guys is simple - nobody is indispensable. I don't really care about biography - if a candidate can sell conservatism, that's good enough for me. The fact is Bachmann can't sell conservatism. Her district is under siege. And unlike Reagan, who was dubbed the Teflon President because none of the sleazy innuendos retailed by the media ever stuck and his opponents' attacks made them look mean-spirited, Bachmann robotic zero-charisma political persona has made her toxic, such that media personalities become more rather than less popular by attacking her. Where Reagan was the Teflon President, Bachmann is the Velcro Congressman.
You can talk all you want. All I notice is that you popped your head up.
Well, politics is a lot like religion. Convincing people to change their views is a Herculean task, and that's true no matter which direction we're talking about.
There is no guarantee that the millions MB got from conservatives will now to the Republican Party. More likely, the money will go to another Tea Party conservative, or to MB’s Senate campaign.
What is it about Michele Bachmann that caused out of state donors to pour money into her campaigns? Could the GOP find other candidates who have “that” in order to capture that donor base? The money is there for the candidate who can earn it.
Go find out, guys!
That was exactly the author's point, and I quote:
If anything, Bachmanns exit means that the conservative movement is about to be better-funded, because conservative small-donors wont be spending over $10 million to re-elect her to a completely safe House seat every two years.
His point isn't that all conservatives are a waste of money - it's that Bachmann is. If they funneled that money to Cruz, who's in a safe seat, most of it would find its way to conservatives he felt worthy. Bachmann spent 99% of the money donated to her to eke out a 1% victory margin.
Frightens them? How exactly? She ran for President. She lost badly. She barely won her district. Now she’s decided to hang it up. How is she “frightening” exactly?
to post 6.
agree entirely.
very glad see has quit.

any bets?
MB shows up at the 2017 Iowa straw poll
and tries to steal the spotlight.?.
Yes...most of the attacks on Bachmann seem to come from the PhonyCons
MB was a great leader of conservative values. The same people who still sandbag Todd Akin are the same ones sandbagging MB
Too many still peeing inside the tent
MB is a conservative and possibly an opinion leader among conservatives. But recent election results indicate she's not much of a political leader, at least not in terms of getting people to vote for her. And I doubt even the opinion leader tag holds - she's merely regurgitating ideas ripped off from political websites, ideas she then restates to make them more unpopular than they already are.
Isn't Franken up in 2014?
Post of the week.
Tinkle-sanctioning is still the only control on GOP membership the Pinkelmeisters have .... it isn't like the New York Athletic Club or the Porcellians .... they'll let just about anybody join <snif!>.
</off snotty brahmin RiNO>
She isn’t frightening them for leaving, she had them frightened all along. Now they are relieved, One more Conservative down.
We can’t has Conservatives in the republican party.
Perhaps to you she does. To me she is Manna from Heaven while the others Cower under their Congressional seats she speaks out.
Perhaps you like what the Republicans have done for the last ten years, which amounts to doing Nothing.
Bingo! Everything else is balderdash.
