“The number of children treated for exposure to marijuana before Sept. 30 was zero. The number from Oct. 1 on was 14 with eight of those coming directly from consuming marijuana food products.”

Parents were simply not reporting it or covering it up because it was illegal. Do you honestly believe the number was really “zero”?

In any case, we’re talking about 8 kids over almost 3 years and none of them had permanent injury. Practically anything else you find in our world is more dangerous.

And yes, for the patient to be 100% safe they should be monitored for breathing. But unlike with alcohol poisoning, vomiting into the lungs is rare and they need less monitoring. The patient just needs to be lying down properly and away from pillows, bags, etc. There have been no officially recorded cases of someone choking while only on cannabis. The only thing close is when a victim mixed it with plenty of alcohol and choked.

You're funny

-Tell me one thing I said that is not true.

-Name a single edible non-inert consumable that is less toxic than cannabis in unlimited quantities. As I said, even water is more dangerous.

No. That's the number of "treatments," not ER visits.

The main side effect of marijuana is, it causes the patient to believe it is harmless and then spend the rest of their life doing nothing but ingesting and defending it.

Thank you.

Tell me one thing I said that is not true.

Probably everything is true, it's what you didn't say.

This is America, land of the free...marijuana is a naturally growing plant, made by God. You can make the case that adults should be able to purchase and consume it. It's federal tax revenue would probably justify total elimination of the income tax.

It could replace Obamacare as a federal mandate, same taxation rules, either you provide proof that you are buying pot or pay a fine if you don't. That would properly tax the low information voters and other RATs.

On the other hand; harmful, toxic, addictive or not...children should never be exposed to it. It will affect their development and turn them all into an easily controlled herd of sheeple....

Just like the educRATs are currently grooming your children for the packer/muncher RATs to harvest as sex objects.

“The main side effect of marijuana is, it causes the patient to believe it is harmless and then spend the rest of their life doing nothing but ingesting and defending it.”

Well, because it is harmless and not one single person has been injured by it. If someone wants to spend their entire life consuming it, that is their right in a free nation. Just like people who spend their entire life tinkering with old cars, picking up girls or playing video games. Leave them alone.

Plenty of people are literally killing themselves with booze and junk food as we speak but it entirely within their right to do so. Unlike harmless cannabis, booze and obesity have a 100% medically proven record of causing serious body harm.

By its nature, the drug war is dangerous for all citizens in a free nation. It has been consistently used as a mechanism to strip our personal rights. Right now, anyone can plant a tiny package on someone and charge them with a felony. Holding a few grand in cash can result in a seizure until you prove it's NOT drug money. Anyone’s house can be “SWATed” under the guise of a “confidential informant”. This abuse of power happens all the time and goes unpunished: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2095772/Cowboy-cop-Jason-Arbeeny-planted-crack-couples-car-seat-escapes-jail.html

varyouga, one thing that you left out in the discussion.

It is still illegal in Colorado and Washington for people under 21 to consume pot.

The law requires that parents protect their children from danger, such as guns and drugs. Many people have been successfully prosecuted for allowing their kids (and non-family members) to gain access to guns or drugs.

We can argue over whether MJ should be legal or illegal, but there is no discussion on the legality of allowing minors to have access (even accidentally) and consuming MJ.

I think I said that but:

DON’T GIVE IT TO KIDS!

The kids can't stop giggling. What's the harm in that?

Trying to use these incidents as an argument against decriminalization of marijuana is exactly like trying to use accidental juvenile shootings as an argument for gun control.

You can't make the argument that responsible adults must be denied access to some object because some dopey kid might then have access to it and cause trouble.

It's up to the adults to handle the object safely, and if they don't they should then face the consequences.

This applies to guns, pot, bleach, lighter fluid, razor blades, swimming pools, cars, chainsaws, and a million other things.

Solution: container with a lock on it for pot and pot pastries.

But outside the home, there is NO WAY to stop minors from getting it if they really want. It is a frickin weed. When I was about 14-15, I knew plenty of kids that grew it in the woods and then sold to classmates. That was up north but in southern climates kids have almost unlimited quantities.

Unless you have 24/7 surveillance of everyone everywhere, you will never put a dent in pot consumption. It is easier to grow than tomatoes and grows in every corner of the globe except the poles.

If you haven't been paying attention, the Left is using SWATting to harass and intimidate conservatives now. They don't even have to allege drug activity. They can claim they heard gun shots and shouting.

Militarized police with no accountability are the problem, not just drug laws.

Then why set an age on pot or alcohol?

Don't let them get driver's licenses until 21.

It’s about accidentally eating them, not giving it to them.

Find out where it came from and shoot the provider as far as I care.

I agree that adults giving any intoxicants to children or unwilling adults should be in trouble.

But yes, ANY food with fat or acidic component can be cooked with cannabis. That is essentially any food you can think of. If cooked properly, it tastes/smells no different from the typical food.

“Then why set an age on pot or alcohol?”

So businesses do not openly target them with marketing and sell to them. It doesn't stop anyone from making their own or selling to friends.

Alcohol is comparatively difficult, costly and obvious to make while any idiot can grow a cannabis plant from seeds.

I knew kids that grew it in their very early teens and that was before the days of the internet. Today's kids can order high grade seeds from overseas and get expert growing advice online.

Then why have commercial advertising or sale of pot at all in Colorado? Let the users produce their own and anything more than personal stash is actionable...
