Cruz and Lee and Paul are working to stop Harry Reid and his minions from pulling shenanigans with the budget conference.
And oh, by the way. If a unanimous consent is denied, a roll call vote can still be called. Nothing is being obstructed, they just don't want to go through all the hoops that they themselves have created.

McCain has undoubtedly had another series of small strokes.
Cruz is such a breath of fresh air. Finally, someone in DC who understands the true nature of his enemies.
I’m with Ted, I don’t trust them either.
He always has been a liberal. He draped himself in his Vietnam service and the fact that he succeeded Barry Goldwater. He’s in his final term now so he can let loose and be the absolute bastard he’s always been, and right out in the open. The democrats are his buddies and he hates, HATES, conservatives.
Me either.
As long as Boehner et al is leading the House, I wouldn’t trust the GOP either.
Sadly, this crap has been going on for waayyyy too long. Time to either clean up the GOP or get a new one formed around the Tea Party.
Ive posted this a number of times and do so again inasmuch as THIS is a constantly recurring problem and some may not grasp how widespread it is.
Over the years when, to steal a line from Billy Joel, I wore a younger mans clothes I was involved with several pretty solid conservative candidates for Congress. One was a Democrat (Lawrence Patton McDonald) because that was the only way he could win in that district. Those old-timers who know Larrys record will tell you that he was a solid an anti-communist America Firster and more Republican than the Pubbies in nearby districts at the time. (His mothers cousin was General George Patton from whom he got the middle name and his incredible resolve and love of this country.) How ironic that he, like General Patton, was also assassinated by the communists they both despised.
Those other candidates ran as Republicans. Because I was a rabid Bircher back then (still am philosophically!), those candidates had to pass my rigid litmus test or I went looking for someone who did. For that reason, I hooked up with what the TRADITIONAL country club Pubbie establishment types believed were too radical for their refined tastes.
As those campaigns began to unfold and it became clear to the country clubbers that these guys 1) had a shot and 2) were pretty independent thinkers who would be hard to keep on the reservation once they got sworn in, the local Pubbies communicated that information to the Republican National HQ types who rather quickly sent in campaign professionals ostensibly to lock up the impending victory.
Instead, in nearly every case to which I was privy, these professionals proceeded to TORPEDO our guys campaign in subtle but effective ways.
From that experience I can tell you that the Pubbies at the HQ in D.C. would rather have a Democrat win a given district than have a pubbie up there who would embarrass them by refusing to follow the party line.
If YOU become involved in campaigns for solidly conservative, America and Constitution loving, hard-nosed, independent thinking candidates in 2012 and beyond and I pray many of you do — please DO NOT trust any of those folks from GOP HQ in Washington. If they want to send you no-strings cash for your campaign, take it. If, however, they suggest sending in one of their professionals, tell them to fuggetaboutit.
They ARE WHO GOT US INTO THIS MESS AND THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIEND!!!!
“The common and continual mischief of the spirit of Party is
sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to
discourage and restrain it.” G. Washington
I could see Ted going indie at some future time. The Republicans are no long dependable.
‘Bizarre’ aptly describes Senator McQueeg.
I don’t blame Cruz for this comment. Lots of GOP are really RINOs —shills for the Democrat/Progressive Party. This is why we need a 3rd Party USIP (United States Independent Party).
From Ted’s lips to God’s ears.
Ted has the pulse of those who elected him.
Well that pretty much makes it unanimous. I can't think of a single intelligent, knowledgeable person who trusts the Republican leadership to stand up for the American people and negotiate effectively.
Instead, he will provide the leadership to change the Republican party along with other members of the Senate Conservatives.
Mr. Cruz and America have almost 17 trillion reasons to not trust them.
I have been saying this for years, that all it would take is one person to sit in the senate and deny unanimous consents and watch the screaming. They don’t want to deliberate and they do not want to vote. They want to pass legislation real quick without anybody being around or responsible and without being held accountable for it. All those republican senators with high “conservative ratings” would be a hell of a lot lower on the list if they were forced to vote for this stuff.
A unanimous consent means that everybody agrees. Well everybody doesn’t agree, so take a vote. But there’s the rub. They don’t want to vote, one, because they don’t want to be held accountable for it and two, because of all the roadblocks in the rules that have been erected that they are constantly trying to get around.
The democrats are squealing like stuck pigs because three senators are sticking together to deny them their usual tricks, and they may have to (gasp!) vote to raise the debt and taxes and be held accountable for it.
Trust? The GOP? After four years of watching the backstabbing of Palin? And then see them go wobbly on every issue from fiscal cliffs to homos in the military to Obamacare funding to amnesty for illegals?
No, I don’t have the slightest shred of trust in the Republican Party anymore. I really don’t. Not a single shred.
