You’re undoubtedly right, but it was still appalling to me the lack of reason and logic involved. I guess it’s good that even after 12 years of FR, I can still be surprised. :0)
I have the same fun posting at the WAPO article forums. It’s about 80/20 lib/conservative.
A belated response at that.
JF - too soon
JD -Too soon??? Look at the next one...
JF- yea ... as in "too soon to make jokes about the Boston Bombing" ... let alone ones with "us vs them" political overtones
JD- Tell that to your jihadi friends...
JF-don't have any
JF -and btw ... I'm always willing to debate things that are debatable ... but claiming, or even insinuating that I have "jihadi friends" is highly offensive. If it was a joke, it wasn't funny. I work hard to make my corner of America the best it can be ... I've run youth programs when no one else would step up to keep them going, I've coached soccer, basketball, tee-ball, swim team and Odyssey of the Mind. I've been on my community's BOD, I was asked to and sat in on committees to study what we can do, locally, about the youth drug problems in Dare County. I'm the Democrat that believes that we need to help those in need, and put our foot up the ass of the lazy that want to take advantage of that help. I believe in gun ownership, reasonable guns owned by responsible people. I believe our taxes are too high and blame it largely on an inefficient government. I believe we need immigration reform, and we shouldn't be letting people in that other countries ask our FBI to investigate. Just like the best colleges get to pick the best students for entry, we should get to pick the best of the best to enter our country, i.e. if you can't show that your being here is going to make our country a better place, then you shouldn't get in. I believe that we insert ourselves into the politics and affairs of other countries WAY to often and we need to change our priorities and worry about issues at home more ... Lord knows we have plenty to improve here, much of which is being ignored. AND I believe that the Boston Bombing was a horrible tragedy and I question the empathy of anyone who makes jokes about it.
JD -Stop it Jordie...some people just aren't as "bleeding heart" as you...and it's okay. It doesn't mean I don't like you. I know this situation is terribly inconvenient for bleeding hearts but it's the people who fight back that will change the situation.Whether it's grass roots activism or fighting literally on the front lines, or making jokes about the governments gun policy using a crisis. That is a tactic straight out the liberal playbook.
JD- The liberals political correctness has allowed the enemy to dwell among us. Someone referred to PC as Americas suicide belt. Pretty good description. <---stolen from a Freeper
JF-I don't believe in Political Correctness, I believe in what's right ... if it offends people it doesn't bother me.
JD -I offended you pretty easily...
JF -By saying I have jihadists friends?!? I wouldn't say that was "easily offended".
JD- No Jordie...me posting a picture of someone's grandma disgusted at the fact that her pressure cooker may have to be on a national registry like her AR-15...it was humor to illustrate the absurdity...that's what originally offended you. Then I just tweaked you a little harder. And be careful some liberals may construe your lack of jihadi friends as racist...
JF -I wasn't offended by that, I just pointed out that its probably too soon to joke about an attack that killed and harmed US citizens on US soil ... especially a joke with a political overtones that pit Americans against Americans. If I myself, or friends or family, had been victims of the bombing, then yes, I probably would have been offended by the joke.
JD- Okay then...how about this...I didn't consider the grandma meme a joke, you did...we could end this now or we could get into the psychology on why you think that offended friends, family or victims of the bombing. Hypersensitive political correctness is a symptom of the bleeding heart. The only people I was hoping to annoy were the gun grabbers running this country right now. Somehow I caught you in the net that I cast...so, did I catch what I was looking for?<----me looking for the real objection.
JF- the original "too soon" comment should be read as if I comedian just performed a joke on stage and the crowd groaned ... then the comedian asks "too soon?"
Our Sunday Morning "Meet the Press" conversation that broke out after that is it's own animal.
And on the gun point, I summarized my position above, but to expand a bit;
JD-You should have used a question mark after "too soon". I think the result would have been the same though....
When conversing with libs (which is very rare now) it is me who becomes uncivilized. When I say “You can shut up now since I have discovered you are too STUPID to have a rational conversation with” I am done. And it usually doesn’t take long. lol
Nice. I like his attempts to describe how wonderfully moderate in his views he is, yet I doubt he has any problem voting for ANYONE with a “D” behind their name, regardless of how hardcore left they are.
Oh yeah, Crusades. This ‘pressing’ issue ended millenia ago, but still - seems to be raw-painful and higher on agenda then any events of today.
Funny thing, Crusades were a response to the Islamic conquest of 8th and 9th centuries...
This is why I dropped Facebook. As soon as Obama won Ohio I knew there was no hope for America.
Amusing that “JR” is more fearful of being beaten/killed outside a church in Texas than a mosque in Mosul.
Oh man, I could smell the liberal smugness on that guy. “AJ” was a real piece of work, but he struck me as a typical college-kid liberal. “JR” seemed more like a “Time” or “Huffington Post” writer.
Well played. I enjoyed your conversation quite a bit.
They are so utterly predictable (and boringly so). I also bet they came away from the exchange feeeeeeling like they won. LOL
Yes, that is exactly what they’ll do. I got into it with a very intolerant lib (and also disrespectful 20ish girl), who immediately upped the personal attacks when she was unable to defend her position. It’s the mark of immaturity, but it also goes to show that libs of any age basically just repeat mindless rhetoric and they get mad when their “opponent” fails to be impressed by it.
Liberals believe Christians are intolerant so they hate them.
But Muslims are every bit and even more intolerant, yet liberals love and defend them.
One of the liberal gods (little “g”) is multiculturalism. Basically anything that is NOT WASPish (include in there Catholic as well) is great.
I think the fundamental point they always miss is that Christianity preaches forgiveness and turn the other cheek while Islam preaches that you should lie to and kill nonbelievers if they won’t covert. They can’t preach equivalence when you compare Jesus’ life to Muhammad’s. Muhammad was a liar, a thief, a murderer, and a pedophile. Islam is not now or has never been a religion of peace.
They do seem to seek out validation for the programing that was administered to them by leftists. They don’t know how to do anything else is mostly likely why. They never learned the critical thinking skills needed to take conversations to a higher level nor have they ever been introduced to them having lived in such an insulated world of ignorance, prejudice, falsehoods, and all-in-one narrow minded narratives. Any introduction to anything above their already low standard of comfort, immediately gets answered with a blast of sophistry and callow responses in the interests of sounding like they are taking the high road. When the inevitable occurs, i.e. the false intellectual facade that they have erected comes tumbling down, then they switch to the name calling, demonizing, and very uncivilized behavior(rudeness, violence of one degree to a higher degree depending on the insane state of the person or group involved).
It cracks me up that they have to go back 1000 years for their examples. Lol
What could be more xenophobic then islam? Muslims are xenophobes. Islamic ideology is the definition of xenophobia.
