We can’t have shotgun/handguns in CA, smoothbore or rifled, no NFA. No Taurus Judge, no .410 deringers, etc.
That's marvelous, but can you locate a dealer with one in stock and available w/o an unspecified waiting period? $800 for a pump shotgun is a bit on the pricey side but I'd go that far if they could fill their orders in a reasonable manner.
KelTec always shows up at the SHOT show with some very interesting prototypes but it seems to take them forever to roll out production units.

PS Feinswein will probably have it banned before it hits the shelves at your local gun emporium.
I thought the AOW was a $5 stamp... When did that change?
What better way to intimidate the next batch of tea-party folks who dare to resist the next occupy encampment?
awesome
I still kick myself in the ass for not buying a few cans of that back in the 90’s when Traders in San Leandro had it for, IIRC, $89/110 rounds, linked...
At the time, you could get the de-milled to semi auto MA Deuce to feed those to for $8,000 WITH tripod.
Hickok was having way too much fun with that little guy. But I’ve shot 12 gauge from my Mossy with a pistol grip and went back to the shoulder stock as an alternative to having my arm in a sling. Too much for me!
Took 10 responses to get to the real question in all of this.
“What does the NYPD want with a .50 cal?”
To keep the rednecks in New Jersey at bay.
Do you recall the name of the case where it was ruled that felons cannot be required to register their weapons?
It is but that's a "SBS" short barreled shotgun and the stamp for full auto, short barreled rifle (under 16"), short barreled shotgun (under 18"), suppressor, or destructive device is $200.00
If the serial numbered receiver was brand new and had never been assembled to a longer barrel, you might try assembling it to a shortened "rifled" (slugger) barrel and register it as a pistol. ATF would probably not agree unless you kept the bore size under 0.50", otherwise it would be a destructive device. 12ga.=0.729", 20ga.=0.615", 28ga.=0.550", leaving you with 0.410" being the only size that might be acceptable and then why bother as that niche has already been filled by Taurus and Smith & Western as well as several Derringer manufactures all with .410/.45 Long Colt offerings.

PS All of the .410/.45LC weapons mentioned have a partially rifled barrel thereby avoiding the SBS classification, ream out the barrel and you are a Federal Felon.
PPS It changed in 1934 with the passage of the "National Firearms Act".
It only holds three, including one in the chamber. Really limited use. They advertise it as a breacher option, but most doors have three hinges so you better get a good effect with each shot.
I wish it was $800.

So I placed my $25 order 1/15/13, and should have it next week (I checked last week). They get in about 15 units per week. Good luck!
“Do you recall the name of the case where it was ruled that felons cannot be required to register their weapons?”
Is this what you are talking about?
“In Haynes v. U.S. (1968), a Miles Edward Haynes appealed his conviction for unlawful possession of an unregistered short-barreled shotgun. [1] His argument was ingenious: since he was a convicted felon at the time he was arrested on the shotgun charge, he could not legally possess a firearm. Haynes further argued that for a convicted felon to register a gun, especially a short-barreled shotgun, was effectively an announcement to the government that he was breaking the law.”
I think so. Thank you.
