Yup. haha. sgammo.com had 22 cases@640 rounds each of czech practice ammo for the Mosin. gone in 2 days. I should have ordered some more.
One thing this whole affair has taught me is the value of having a lot of .22LR on hand. It seems the supply can end just like that.
J&G Sales recently got in some 440 round tins of 7.62x54R light ball for $84.91.
I ordered a can last week. Looking at the web site it appears they still have some left:
http://www.jgsales.com/7.62x54r-comm-bloc-light-ball-fmj-ammo,-steel-case,-440rd-tin.-p-4431.html
No kidding. I’m still looking for some additional .22LR.
It’s not just guns and ammo. Other gun related “stuff” is starting to run out too.
I finally decided to shell out a bunch of bucks and bought a very nice second generation night vision rifle scope on-line today. I even called them to make sure they had it, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
It turns out I was too late. The customer service people called me up a couple of hours later and told me they sold the last one a few minutes before I placed my order. I’m now back ordered at least six weeks, assuming I get it at all.
So... I checked around for some other site with the same scope. It was not available anywhere on the web. I noticed a number of other night vision scopes were out as well.
If even night vision scopes are running out, every other kind of accessory is probably running low as well. If you have some accessories you may need/want sometime this year, you should consider getting them NOW.
“I read on another site that this story had been at least partially debunked. 300 per day is not very many weapons for a manufacturer as large as S&W. Im wondering if maybe the author merely slipped a decimal.”
Lack of material could indeed cause this problem.Good steel is not easy to get in quantity. Neither is brass, contributing to the ammo shortfall
Thanks. (I probably have enuff on the shelves, but who knows.)
I never thought I would appreciate a .22 as much as I do now, but when that is even scarce, you appreciate what you have. I only have one .22 rifle (and not even a Ruger 10/22 either, want one). Even that I am not wanting to waste ammo now until this blows over.
Heck, I’ve even been picking up shotgun ammo at Wal Mart ever week (still cheap, 100 rounds of 20 gauge is still about $19).
“I would have guessed the shortages would go on for a few high demand guns then pretty much be over in a few weeks.
Same for ammo.”
The gov is grabbing ammo as fast as they print the money to pay for it. Civilians are buying guns as fast as they can be made to ship. The feds need to do the math and back down. You can’t burn down every other house in the country and expect to win
“Small shops do that.”
They can’t if they don’t have the material to work with. You can’t make barrels and receivers out of thin air
I only have a Marlin .22 right now, but I will probably pick up something in .22, hopefully an older one. I bought a couple or 3 cases of ammo when it was on sale. deosn’t take up much room compared to the spam cans in crates of 7.62x54r!
Black powder revolvers are plentiful and dirt cheap to buy and shoot.
This is what I bought.
Must be 25 rounds for $19 isn't it? Otherwise I might have to jump on a plane!
Nope, 100 for $19. That is the price I’ve seen for a long time.
I should have bought gun and ammo stock before this racist marxist was elected-I might have broken even after paying the extra taxes this pResident has put on me.
Regular shot shells (not buckshot) only run about $5 to $7 per 25 round box.
