People like this don’t off themselves with guns. This one would go for tranks, pain pills, sleeping pills, or something painless...all the while hoping someone she called would find her manipulating self in time to save her worthless a$$.

She can relinquish her righy to own a firearm, but leave me to hell alone.

I think the rule should be that if you call for the elimination of a particular amendment to the Constitution - then you get your wish and that amendment no longer applies to you. I am also in favor of a constitutional amendment that says that if you complain about taxes being too low - your taxes automatically get raised by 10%. And each time you complain again, your taxes go up another 10%.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
But since most people like me are more likely to harm ourselves than to turn into mass-murdering monsters, our leaders should do more to keep us safe from ourselves. Please take away my Second Amendment right. Do more to help us protect ourselves because whats most likely to wake me in the early hours isnt a mans body slamming at my door but depression, that raven, tapping, rapping, banging for relief.
I have a better chance of surviving if I never have the option of being able to pull the trigger.
Holy crap.
I had to double check to make sure this wasn't from the Onion or some other satire site.
I assume that during this woman's depressive period she also didn't have access to a razor to slit her wrists, or ropes, belts, or power cords to hang herself, or buildings to jump off of, or subway trains to jump in front of. The ONE thing that saved her is that she didn't own a gun.
Oh, and by the way, lady, the government may be able to infringe upon it, but they can't "take away your second amendment right". Your rights are not given to you by the government, they cannot be taken away by the government.

She sure does seem to be around John Edwards a lot.
To: spodefly
She is arguing that if she had a gun she might lose her battle with depression and kill herself. I heard a similar argument once from an anti-gun college professor ... he said that if he had a gun he would have killed someone by now.So their claim is that with free access to guns, there would be fewer stupid liberals, yet they then go on to use that as an argument FOR gun control??? Hmmmmm, strange....

In her depressive state of mind, I don’t think she should be allowed to drive.
She is clearly a danger to the community.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
If she had really wanted to off herself, there are plenty of things in her own home she could use: knives, pills, household cleaners. Is she going to ask the government to ban those as well? Just because SHE can't be trusted, doesn't mean most of the rest of the country can't.
How about we have a voluntary registry of people like her who think they can't be trusted with guns? Then, if they have the urge to buy one, the registry can be checked and they can be denied.

And then read the comments. Many, in fact most, apparently agree with her.
I read their comments and agree that if because of severe depression they don't feel comfortable or don't trust themselves to own guns then they shouldn't have them.
And they shouldn't own or operate a car...
Operate heavy machinery...
Be around small children...
Sharp objects...
OR Electric appliances....
But the government is the LAST to to deny them or me a constitutional RIGHT!!!

Well ain’t that just peachy. If she recognizes that she shouldn’t have a gun, then it is real simple, don’t buy one stupid. But don’t prevent me from having one because you can’t handle it.
This example is like having someone that drinks and drives tell the rest of us that we shouldn’t drive either.

I think everybody who feels and thinks as she does should roll up a copy of the New York Times and move north of the Mason-Dixon line. Leave the sane people down here in America. Y’ll have fun up there.

If I had purchased that gun and it had been in my possession, Im not sure I would have been able to resist and would be here typing these words.
Yet if we denied her "right" to end an unwanted prengancy she would argue it was her right, depression or not....
Following that logic, She should be allowed to do with her body wantever her wanted to... including her own life with the most effective process possible at the time...
Most homocides listed are, in fact people combining both "rights', to do with their bodies what they see fit at the time...
