"To the American Commander at the Pentagon and In the White House or Las Vegas"
"NUTS!"
how factual is this info, or is it speculation? It seems to have popped up out of nowhere, and is turning up all over with seemingly no corroboration.
In the old days before mass communication, Ambassadors and various commanders of armed forces were expected to do what was necessary to protect Americans.
The President might not hear of the incident for six months. When he did, he would back the decision of these Ambassadors no matter what the outcome.
Why do we need ambassadors in this era of mass communication? If we have a problem with a foreign nation or bandits, just send them a stern e-mail followed by by a few Cruise missiles.
Well, I just don’t believe that. We have been told by the excellent and highly reputable and credible sources within this fine administration that General Ham has elected to take retirement to care for his sick wife.
Dripping sarcasm off and BS meter on very high gain.
Lying spits.
Who was the second in command? Some fawning POS who is an obastard spittlelick.
This story is just NOT true. While it wouldn’t surprise me if this kind of thing did happen, in this case it did NOT.
General Ham hasnt been relieved of duty yet and was NEVER arrested. He addressed a group of cadets at an ROTC luncheon on Oct. 22nd AS the commander of U.S. Africa Command. http://www.africom.mil/getArticle.asp?art=8397&am
On 10/30/2012 11:08:46 AM, AFRICOM PAO in Stuttgart, Germany said:
Thank you for all the comments and questions. We are aware of the rumors surrounding General Ham’s upcoming departure, and the assumptions are false. General Carter F. Ham is currently the commander of U.S. Africa Command. Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta’s announced intention on October 18 to nominate Army General David M. Rodriguez to succeed General Ham followed leadership succession deliberations that took place well before the incident of 9/11/12.
General Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, addressed this issue: “The speculation that General Carter Ham is departing Africa Command (AFRICOM) due to events in Benghazi, Libya, on 11 September 2012 is absolutely false. General Ham’s departure is part of routine succession planning that has been on going since July. He continues to serve in AFRICOM with my complete confidence.”
